Abstract: Tray apparatus for receiving sheet material along a predetermined path and which lowers incrementally in response to a sensing circuit including a motor which lowers a tray member to maintain a constant level of the top sheet received with the sheet path. Two lamp and photodetector pairs serve to sense the level of sheet material received on the tray member and signifies when the tray member is to be lowered. Abstract: A document reproduction system with processor for making copies, a document handler for feeding documents to be copied to the processor, and a collator to either stack or collate the copies. The collator, which comprises a procession of copy receiving trays, incorporates a copy sensor to prevent reuse of the collator, or at least the portion thereof used previously, until the collator trays are cleared of copies from a previous job. To allow the collator, or the same section thereof to be used regardless, as when it is desired to add copies to a previous job, selectively operable control means are provided to override the aforesaid copy sensor and permit copies in addition to those originally programmed to be placed in the same collator or collator section together with those copies collator previously.

Abstract: Stapling apparatus used for stapling copy sheets into booklets produced from documents copied in repeated cycles which includes a tray mechanism having movable side guide members capable of receiving different size sheet material fed along a predetermined path from a processor. The sheet material is stopped by a gate mechanism which is positioned adjacent to the tray mechanism and is operative to move from one position in the sheet path to a second position out of the sheet path in response to discrete electrical signals. The stapling assembly is operative to drive staples one staple at a time into each pile of sheets collected and held in registration by the tray mechanism and gate mechanism in response to electrical signals. A solenoid actuated eject roll mechanism is used to eject the stapled pile of sheets after the gate mechanism has been lifted out of the gate path and move the staple pile to the receiving tray. A control circuit supplies the signals necessary to carry out the program logic of the various components of the stapling apparatus in timed relation.

The module also includes an apparatus that is operative upon indication of a power down condition from the host machine for generating an enabling signal to the data memory while a current address signal on the system bus is being received by the data memory.

This variable number of identical copies made per document in a circulation and bins utilized per circulation is preferably a repeatedly recalculated function of the smallest of: (1) the duplex tray capacity DIVIDED number of originals being copied, or (2) the quantity of copy sets selected, or (3) the number of available sorter bins, or (4) the remaining quantity of copy sets to be made.

Abstract: A reproduction system for producing and collating copies from a set of document sheets comprises a copy set collecting and storage arrangement for a high speed copy reproduction system or duplicator machine (11) having a finishing station (130). The arrangement includes an elevator (138) for collecting finished copy sets in a stack and a conveyor (140) for receiving one or more stacks from the elevator. Controls are devised for "limitless" finishing wherein the duplicator is placed in Standby, count holding condition when the full storage capacity has been reached and the programmed reproduction run has not been achieved. The controls will effect automatic start-up again when one or more of the stacks have been removed until once again the capacity has been reached and the reproduction run has not been completed.
