Abstract: A method and a controller (260) for handling a failure or change of a processing element (230) in a virtual network (200) are provided. The processing element (230) comprises a first stateless executable function (231) that use a local state storage (232) and a persistent state storage (250) when executed on a host (240) in the virtual network 5(200). The controller (260) maintains the local state storage (232) of the processing element (230) upon removing the first stateless executable function (231) from the processing element (230) in response to the failure or change. The controller (260) also creates a second stateless executable function (231') to replace the first stateless executable function (231) in the processing element (230). Then, the controller (260) 10associates the maintained local state storage (232) with the second stateless executable function (231') for the processing element (230). Further, the controller (260) initiates the second stateless executable function (231') using the associated maintained local state storage (232) such that the processing element (230) resumes execution from its real-time state before the failure or change.15A load balancer and method therein for enabling the handling a failure of a processing element (230) using a persistent state storage (250) in a virtual network (200)are also provided. Further, a cloud computing system, a computer program and carriers are also provided.

Abstract: A virtual machine disk image file backup is selected among a plurality of virtual machine disk image file backups stored on a backup storage system. A version of the selected virtual machine disk image file backup is mounted. An updated version of the mounted version of the selected virtual machine disk image file backup is generated by applying an update to the mounted version of the selected virtual machine disk image file backup and without restoring the selected virtual machine disk image file backup. The updated version of the selected virtual machine disk image file backup is stored on the backup storage system.

Abstract: Methods and systems for test deployment of computational code on virtual servers are disclosed. In one embodiment, an exemplary method comprises receiving test computational code programmed to provide resources; selecting a test virtual server from a plurality of virtual servers; uploading the test computational code to the test virtual server; initializing the test computational code on the test virtual server; receiving computational performance measurements of the test virtual server and a remainder of the plurality of virtual servers; calculating a test score of the test virtual server based on the received computational performance measurements; and stopping the test computational code if the test score is outside a set range.

Abstract: Generating datasets using approximate baselines including receiving, by a source storage system, an instruction to create, on a target storage system, a current snapshot for a source dataset stored on the source storage system, wherein no snapshots for the source dataset exist on the target storage system; selecting, as a baseline dataset, a similar dataset from a plurality of datasets on the source storage system with an existing snapshot on the target storage system, wherein the similar dataset comprises at least a portion of the source dataset; instructing the target storage system to generate a baseline snapshot for the source dataset using a copy of the existing snapshot of the baseline dataset; and transferring, from the source storage system to the target storage system, only a difference between the baseline dataset and the source dataset.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, by a high-availability (HA) service running in a data center having a plurality of virtual machines (VMs) and a hypervisor, credentials for the hypervisor and a list of VMs, the hypervisor credentials and the list of VMs received from a power and capacity management (PCM) service, the PCM service configured to selectively power VMs from the list of VMs on and off; sending, from the HA service to the PCM service, a health check request to determine if the PCM service is able of selectively power the VMs from the list of VMs on and off; and in response to determining the PCM service is unable to selectively power the VMs from the list of VMs on and off, powering on, by the HA service, one or more of the VMs from the list of VMs using the hypervisor credentials received from the PCM service.
