Abstract: A method of remote device diagnosis and mitigation includes receiving a signal indicative of an intermittent technical state of a first device. Immediately responsive thereto, the method includes interrogating the first device for parameters. The method includes interrogating the first device for the parameters at a third time outside receipt of the signal. The parameters include a transient parameter present at a first time of the intermittent technical state and not present a second time following the first time. The method includes recording the parameters from the first time in a first data file and the parameters for the third time in an additional data file. The first data file is compared with the additional data file to identify a difference in a parameter indicative of a cause of the intermittent technical state. The method includes remotely implementing a change on the first device to mitigate the cause.

    Applicant: COHESITY, INC.

Abstract: A request to restore a plurality of files to a first storage system from a backup stored at a second storage system is received. Corresponding file relocation metadata for each of the plurality of files is provided to the first storage system. The corresponding file relocation metadata for each of the plurality of files enables accessibility of contents of the plurality of files at the first storage system without storing entire contents of the plurality of files at the first storage system. A corresponding full content version for at least one of the plurality of files that is to be utilized by the first storage system is provided to enable direct access at the first storage system to contents of the at least one of the plurality of files instead of utilizing corresponding file relocation metadata for the at least one of the plurality of files to access the contents of the at least one of the plurality of files.

METHOD FOR RESTORING TO A POINT IN TIME USING MULTIPLE SNAPSHOTS AND DELTA OBJECTS

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for data management in a data storage includes backing up the data storage. The method includes, in response to a restore request for a selected intermediate time point, determining an optimal restore direction for each address in the data storage by comparing a number of saved data blocks between the selected intermediate time point and a preceding snapshot time point, and a number of saved data blocks between the selected intermediate time point and a following snapshot time point. The method includes selecting the preceding snapshot time point or the following snapshot time point as a default restore snapshot based on the most common optimal restore direction. The method includes restoring the selected default restore snapshot and restoring each address which is associated with the default restore snapshot as an optimal restore direction. The method includes restoring the other snapshot not selected as the default restore snapshot.

IDENTIFYING HOST FUNCTIONALITIES BASED ON PROCESS CHARACTERIZATION

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable for defining host functionalities in a computing environment include obtaining two or more snapshots comprising information pertaining to two or more processes executing in two or more hosts, the two or more snapshots being obtained at two or more points in time from the two or more hosts. One or more long-running processes amongst the two or more processes are identified based on one or more criteria associated with long-running processes. One or more priorities associated with the one or more long-running processes and used for defining functionalities for at least a subset of the two or more hosts, where high priorities are assigned to long-running processes, such as web server or database server processes, which are unique to at least the subset of the two or more hosts. Resources may be provisioned based on these host functionalities.
