Abstract: A request to restore a plurality of files to a first storage system from a backup stored at a second storage system is received. Corresponding file relocation metadata for each of the plurality of files is provided to the first storage system. The corresponding file relocation metadata for each of the plurality of files enables accessibility of contents of the plurality of files at the first storage system without storing entire contents of the plurality of files at the first storage system. A corresponding full content version for at least one of the plurality of files that is to be utilized by the first storage system is provided to enable direct access at the first storage system to contents of the at least one of the plurality of files instead of utilizing corresponding file relocation metadata for the at least one of the plurality of files to access the contents of the at least one of the plurality of files.

Abstract: A method for a storage system (100) to process input and output operations. The method includes receiving (212) writes over time to an address at a base virtual volume, storing (212) each of the writes in a physical storage (108) at a new location that is without existing data, tagging (218) each stored write with a different generation number to distinguish between different versions of data written to the address at the base virtual volume, receiving (222) a read of the address at the base virtual volume, and, in response to the read of the address at the base virtual volume, returning (226) one of the stored writes that is tagged with a newer generation number than a remainder of the stored writes.

Abstract: Generating datasets using approximate baselines including receiving, by a source storage system, an instruction to create, on a target storage system, a current snapshot for a source dataset stored on the source storage system, wherein no snapshots for the source dataset exist on the target storage system; selecting, as a baseline dataset, a similar dataset from a plurality of datasets on the source storage system with an existing snapshot on the target storage system, wherein the similar dataset comprises at least a portion of the source dataset; instructing the target storage system to generate a baseline snapshot for the source dataset using a copy of the existing snapshot of the baseline dataset; and transferring, from the source storage system to the target storage system, only a difference between the baseline dataset and the source dataset.

Abstract: An enhanced communication of recovery information related to restart of a NF Service provider or NF consumer (e.g., NF Service Instance, NF Service Set, NF Instance, NF Set) is introduced. In exemplary embodiments, a recovery timestamp in a restart notification related to the restart of a NF Service provider or NF consumer is associated with the NF Service provider or NF consumer corresponding to the binding level of session contexts served by the NF service provider or NF consumer. The NF Service provider/ consumer may be a NF Service Instance, NF Service Set, NF Instance or NF Set. In the case of a failure, the recovery timestamp populated in a recovery notification is matching the binding level of session contexts which will be affected by the failed NF Service provider/ consumer. The recovery timestamp may be included in indirect signaling via a NRF and in direct signaling between NFs. Further, the recovery timestamp can be included in the header of a restart notification or in a message body of the restart notification. The restart notification may be a service request/response, notification request/response, or a Subscription request/response.

Abstract: Described herein are embodiments related to defect detection in memory components of memory systems with time-varying bit error rate. A processing device performs an error recovery flow (ERF) to recover a unit of data comprising data and a write timestamp indicating when the unit of data was written. The processing device determines whether to perform a defect detection operation to detect a defect in the memory component using a bit error rate (BER), corresponding to the read operation, and the write timestamp in the unit of data. The processing device initiates the defect detection operation responsive to the BER condition not being expected for the calculated W2R (based on the write timestamp). The processing device can use an ERF condition and the write timestamp to determine whether to perform the defect detection operation.
