Abstract:
An apparatus adapted for coupling between an attendant positioned either behind or in front of a patient on an exercise assembly such as a treadmill for rehabilitation of a functionally impaired leg of the patient such as one suffering from paralysis. The apparatus comprises a leg appliance secured to a patpatient'sg, with a leg bracket adjacent to the knee. A leg brace secured to an attendant's leg also includes a bracket adjacent to the attattendant'see. At least one connecting member provides coupling from the leg bracket to the bracket of the leg brace to transmit motion from an attendant's leg to a patient's leg using forces acting from the leg brace to the leg appliance through the connecting member. An ankle appliance having an upper extension and a lower extension proximate the ankle is attached to a patient's foot and an ankle brace is similarly attached to an attendant's foot. The ankle brace has a brace upper extension and a brace lower extension adjacent the ankle of an attendant with the brace upper extension coupled by an upper ankle link to the upper extension of the patient's ankle appliance, while the brace lower extension is coupled by a lower ankle link to the lower extension of the ankle appliance. Each of the upper link and the lower link are adapted to create movement of a patient's foot corresponding to movement of a foot of an attendant during walking. Further coupled to the ankle brace is an offset link for transferring side-to-side motions. The coordinated leg and ankle movement allows a patient's paralysis damaged leg to duplicate the walking motion of an attendant's leg.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to provide a three-dimensional spine remedying apparatus, which offers more comprehensive functions and better curative effects, and frees the patient from discomfort during the process of treatment. The apparatus of the invention includes: a frame; a cephalothoracic board and a driving device thereof; a hip-leg board and a driving device thereof; a low-speed draught device; a hip board capable of rotating around the axle Z and a driving device thereof; a device for securing the body of the patient and an adjusting means thereof. The driving devices of said cephalothoracic board, hip-leg board and hip board are high-speed driving devices employing electromagnetic force. Said hip-leg board and hip board are capable of not only rotating by a predetermined angle, but also making high-speed angular oscillation. In addition, in said driving device of said cephalothoracic board, a clutch is provided for linking up the high-speed movement of the magnetic driving device of the cephalothoracic board with the low-speed movement of the said draught device.
Abstract:
A vibrator apparatus is provided. The vibrator apparatus includes a body weight support to support the body weight of a subject. The body weight support is attached to at least one arm, which includes a first arm portion and a second arm portion. The second arm is adjustably positionable with respect to the first arm portion. The vibrator apparatus also includes a vibrator assembly mounted on the second arm portion of the arm. The second arm portion is positionable relative to the first arm portion to engage an abdominal region of the subject and apply localized inwardly-directed mechanical vibrations.
Abstract:
A vertebral traction device for applying traction to the lower vertebral column. A method for applying traction to the lower vertebral column.
Abstract:
An underpants with a stamina reinforcing mechanism using walking force, includes an underpants body provided with a waistband and leg insertion openings; supporting members respectively formed long perimeters of the leg insertion openings; and actuating members which move forward and backward in turn when the legs move forward and backward. One end of each actuating member is connected to the corresponding supporting member. A strengthening device rubs the glans of the penis by frictional contact as the actuating members move forward and backward in turn. The strengthening device is connected to the actuating member so that the strengthening device can surround the glans of the penis whereby the glans of the penis is naturally strengthened during walking.
Abstract:
The body support harness (10) includes an outer strap supported belt (11) placed in the hem (19) of a support assembly (12). The apron (18) suspended between the straps (15 and 16) limits the rotation of the person to approximately 180.degree., so that the person can enter the harness in a standing, upright attitude (FIG. 7), and tilt himself to an inverted attitude (FIG. 8), with the apron (18) limiting movement beyond the legs achieving an upright attitude.
Abstract:
A portable traction device primarily for application of pelvic traction can be easily transported, assembled and dismantled by a user for the self-application of traction without the need for specialized in-patient equipment. The device is carried in a padded storage bag and includes a foldable traction frame assembly on which the user lies during application of traction. Also included are a pelvic belt, traction cords and water bags to be attached to the belt as well as hip and neck support cushions, all of the components being receivable in the storage bag. The user carries the bag and sets up the device at any convenient location. A primary component of the device is a foldable frame assembly having a base plate on which the user lies during treatment and a frame at one end providing elevated cord guides over which the traction cords extend from the belt to the water bags.
Abstract:
A self contained portable traction or back-stretch apparatus (11) comprising a frame assembly (13) with first tensile force application means in the form of two U-shaped members (15) for supporting a person under their arms, and a second tensile force application means (17 or 57) for supporting a person about their waist and hips. The frame assembly (13) is formed of two frames (19) comprising parallel elongate struts (21) and parallel elongate struts (23) connected about a pivot pin (25) in a scissor type relationship. Separation of the force application means (15 and 17 or 57) is limited by a resiliently stretchable mat (37) which also serves to support the weight of a person therebetween. The weight of the person supported in the traction apparatus results in a downward force on the frame assembly (13) which translates to a tensile force applied between the force application means (15 and 17 or 57) and effects traction, providing a degree of intervertebral separation in the person.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for enlargement of soft tissue such as breasts or a penis is comprised of a dome configured to fit over the area of desired augmentation. The dome has a rim with a surface area equal to or greater than the normal area of the dome opening to prevent medical complications caused by excessive pressure to the skin. The dome also includes a vacuum pump with a power source, pressure sensor, and servomechanism for regulating the pressure within the dome.
Abstract:
A mechanized traction chair is disclosed that employs a motor operated underarm support device that in combination with a restrictive seat belt provides forced traction to the upper torso. A lower seating assembly provides a variable articulating motion to the lower torso.
