Abstract: In at least one aspect, there is provided a system for generating force about one or more joints including a soft exosuit having a plurality of anchor elements and at least one connection element disposed between the plurality of anchor elements. The system also includes at least one sensor to determine a force the at least one connection element or at least one of the plurality of anchor elements and to output signals relating to the force, at least one actuator configured to change a tension in the soft exosuit and at least one controller configured to receive the signals output from the at least one sensor and actuate the at least one actuator responsive to the received signals.

Abstract: Provided are a wearable device for providing a wear detection function and an operation method of the wearable device. The wearable device may include driving modules for generating torque applied to a user's body, leg driving frames for relaying the generated torque to the user's legs, thigh fasteners that are respectively connected to the leg driving frames and for fixing the leg driving frames respectively to the user's legs, a sensor module for obtaining sensor data including motion information of the leg driving frames, and a control module for controlling the wearable device based on the sensor data. The control module is configured to perform a test to determine whether the wearable device is properly worn on the user's legs. In the test, the control module is further configured to control the driving modules to generate test torque and determine whether the test is passed based on the sensor data obtained after the test torque is generated.

Abstract: An ambulatory respiratory assist device utilizes a cuirass worn on the chest and/or abdomen and supported by a hip belt so that it does not place a load on the patient's shoulders. The belt also supports a ventilator that includes a pump and its power supply, valving, controls and auxiliary equipment. The device is optionally integrated with auxiliary features such as chest wall vibration, which can be achieved by utilizing cuirass pressure modulation, with shoulder or upper arm supports for simulating the “tripod position”, with positive pressure ventilation apparatus, or with patient monitoring. Shoulder or upper arm supports can extend directly from the belt to the shoulders or upper arms, utilized independently of the cuirass, and optionally integrated with one or more of the above-mentioned auxiliary features.

Abstract: A wearable suit and control method thereof is disclosed herein. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of controlling a wearable suit including a muscular strength assistance unit, at least a portion of which is made of a shape memory alloy material, is provided, the method including: a heating process of heating the muscular strength assistance unit to provide auxiliary force to a user of the wearable suit; and a cooling process of cooling the muscular strength assistance unit to reduce the auxiliary force, wherein the cooling process is a process of cooling the muscular strength assistance unit based on an operating time of the user.

A self-contained removable actuator cassette improves the ease of manufacture and of replacing parts in the field. A tensioning retention system designed for one handed operation makes donning and doffing a wearable robotic device easier. A two-stage attachment system increases the range of sizes a wearable robotic device will fit. A removable, integrated ankle-foot orthotic system makes donning and doffing a wearable robotic device easier. An infinitely adjustable, integrated ankle-foot orthotic system increases the range of sizes a wearable robotic device will fit. A manually-removable hip-wing attachment system makes field changes easier, and protecting such a system from inadvertent disengagement during operation increases safety.

Abstract: An appliance for assisting locomotion of a subject, including a paired ankle joint controller configured to return an ankle joint of the subject to a neutral position; a paired electromechanical knee joint controller configured to move each knee joint of the subject through a range of motion required for locomotion; a paired electromechanical hip joint controller configured move each hip joint of the subject through a range of motion required for locomotion; an electronic appliance control unit in electrical or data communication with (i) the paired electromechanical knee joint controller and (ii) the paired electromechanical hip joint controller. The electronic control unit configured to coordinate the movement of each knee joint and each hip joint of the subject so as to cause or assist locomotion of the subject. Also provided are methods for programming the electronic control unit.
