Abstract:
A simple inlet filter element for use primarily in power steering columns which is comprised of a mesh filter, a magnet attached to the mesh filter and a button cap. The filter is installed in a port or conduit through which steering fluid flows and is held in place by the button cap element.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus are provided for automated isolation of selected analytes, to which magnetically-responsive solid supports are bound, from other components of a sample. An apparatus for performing an automated magnetic separation procedure includes a mechanism for effecting linear movement of a magnet between operative and non-operative positions with respect to a receptacle device. A receptacle holding station within which a receptacle device may be temporarily stored prior to moving the receptacle to the apparatus for performing magnetic separation includes magnets for applying a magnetic field to the receptacle device held therein, thereby drawing at least a proton of the magnetically-responsive solid supports out of suspension before the receptacle device is moved to the magnetic separation station. An automated receptacle transport mechanism moves the receptacle devices between the apparatus for performing magnetic separation and the receptacle holding station.
Abstract:
A vertical ring high gradient magnetic separator comprises an exciting winding coil and a coil casing, wherein the winding coil is immerged in coolant in the coil casing, the winding coil is of a multi-layer structure, and an insulating member is provided between each layer or a plurality of layers of the winding coil to form gaps through which the coolant passes. The winding coil of the vertical ring high gradient magnetic separator has a rapid heat dissipation capability in the coolant, which can ensure the winding coil maintaining a lower temperature during operation, thereby obtaining a higher magnetic field strength.
Abstract:
Apparatuses for preparing a sample are disclosed herein. The apparatuses include a chamber, a first valve at least partially disposed in the first chamber, a second valve at least partially disposed in the first chamber, and a pump comprising an actuator and nozzle.
Abstract:
The present invention includes methods, devices and systems for isolating a nucleic acid from a fluid comprising cells. In various aspects, the methods, devices and systems may allow for a rapid procedure that requires a minimal amount of material and/or results in high purity nucleic acid isolated from complex fluids such as blood or environmental samples.

Abstract:
An apparatus for removing magnetic particles from a mud slurry is disclosed, and includes one or more endless belts or chains enclosed almost wholly within a pipe. A motor drives the chain around the pipe. When the pipe is located within a mud slurry, magnetic particles in the mud slurry are drawn to the pipe and carried along the outside and away from the slurry until a collar is reached. Once separated the particles can be collected for disposal. The chain comprises a series of units linked together. Each unit includes a magnet with pole pieces at either pole to direct magnetic flux. Wear discs prevent the magnets and pole pieces from abrasion as they are drawn through the pipe. Units can be included in the chain which units do not include a magnet, thereby providing a break in the field, allowing particles to fall away from the collar region.
Abstract:
A fuel conditioner is provided for improving fuel combustibility and reducing emissions into the environment. The fuel conditioner may be placed in-line in a fuel delivery system for internal combustion engines and may include the following components: a first housing defining a sealed chamber, a fuel inlet in fluid communication with the sealed chamber, a second housing disposed within the sealed chamber, a magnet disposed in the second housing, a fuel outlet in fluid communication with the sealed chamber, and a flow path in the sealed chamber for flow of the liquid fuel between the fuel inlet and the fuel outlet. Along its flow path, the liquid fuel is split apart and passes through magnetic fields due to one or more magnets inside the second housing to condition the fuel to improve fuel combustibility and reduce toxic emissions.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a sample holder for isolating magnetically labelled particles from a non-magnetic medium in a plurality of samples. The holder comprises a magnetic base for applying a magnetic force to the magnetically labelled particles and a body which is mountable on the base and demountable therefrom. The body comprises an array of sample holding portions and a magnetisable member which is magnetically urged towards the magnetic base when the body is seated on the base, whereby the body is urged to remain seated on the base. The invention also relates to use of the sample holder to separate magnetic particles from a non-magnetic medium and methods of performing such a separation.
