Abstract:
This invention has as its object to allow an authentication process that avoids unnecessary information from being stored in a digital camera irrespective of whether or not a digital camera connected to the printer has a direct print function. To this end, in this invention, in an early stage of connection between a digital camera DSC and PD printer, the PD printer side requests an object which contains a keyword as authentication information of those which are stored and held by the DSC (S29). As a result, after it is determined the returned information contains authentication information, the printer notifies the DSC of its own authentication information (S33).
Abstract:
A RARP processing section of a network scanner obtains a MAC address corresponding to a user name from a MAC address table, and broadcasts a RARP request by use of this MAC address. While, a PC sends a pair of a self-IP address and a mail address to a RARP processing section in response to the RARP request. After obtaining an IP address of this PC, a scanner scans an original, and generates e-mail to which the image is appended. Next, an SMTP transmitting section directly transmits the generated e-mail to the PC. At this time, the SMTP transmitting section uses the IP address of PC obtained by the RARP processing section. In the network to which HDCP is introduced, the network scanner automatically obtains the IP address of PC, and directly transmits image data to the PC.
Abstract:
A system and method by which an information broadcaster broadcasts content received from at least one information provider to a plurality of information receivers. A server device operated by the information broadcaster broadcasts the content over a network to client devices operated by information receivers. The content is transmitted to the client devices according to a preferred reception mode directly communicated from each of the client devices to the server device. The preferred reception mode indicates a preferred content reception device for converting the content to a user perceptible form. The preferred content reception device may be selected from a facsimile machine, a facsimile printer and a processing device such as a computer or personal digital assistant. The preferred reception mode may further indicate that a client device is in a non-reception mode, i.e., no content should be sent to the client device.
Abstract:
In this invention, a function is added to a digital copying machine or a function of the digital copying machine is changed from a remote terminal by using a window image displayed on an operation unit of the digital copying machine. This allows an operator of the remote terminal to check the arrangement and shapes of actual operation buttons by which functions are displayed on the operation unit. It is possible to avoid choosing a wrong icon for assigning or changing a function and present changes of functions readily understandable by an operator.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus transmits facsimile data converted from e-mail data to a facsimile destination via a public communication network. A receiver receives the e-mail data from a requesting node. A memory stores a password and a domain name of a requesting node. An acquiring section acquires a destination address including at least a telephone number, a password and a domain name, from the requesting node. A converter converts the e-mail data into facsimile data. A comparator compares the password and the domain name acquired by the acquiring section, with the password and the domain name stored in the memory, respectively. A facsimile transmitter transmits the converted facsimile data to the facsimile destination designated by the telephone number when a result of the comparison indicates that the password and the domain name acquired are the same as the password and the domain name stored in said memory. Further, when a result of the comparison indicates that the password and the domain name acquired are not the same as the password and the domain name stored in the memory, the facsimile transmitter does not transmit the facsimile data to the facsimile destination.
Abstract:
The present invention is to allow display based on the setting positions of devices in selection of a desired device to be used, and facilitate selection considering the setting positions of the devices. The present invention can also display equipments so as to allow discrimination between an equipment included in an image processing apparatus and an equipment connected on a communication line. Equipments in a network environment are placed on the first floor (1F), the second floor (2F), and the third floor (3F) in a building and connected through a network (LAN 1300). For example, a computer (1310) collects device information including status information and setting position information from usable input/output devices. For example, status information representing “BUSY” and setting position information representing “3F-B block” are transferred from a virtual optical scanner (1302). The computer (1310) displays the connected input/output devices together with the setting position information obtained from the devices. An image processing apparatus (100) has various input/output devices including a reader unit (1), a printer unit (2), and an image input/output control unit (3). In addition, various input/output equipments (two optical scanner devices (1302, 1303) and three facsimile transmission/reception devices (1305, 1306, 1307)) are connected to the image processing apparatus (100) through a LAN interface unit (9) and the LAN (1300). A CPU (123) of a core unit (10) manages the input/output equipments to determine whether they are connected through the network. When a desired input/output equipment is to be selected, whether the input/output equipments are connected through the network is explicitly indicated.

Abstract:
A method of parameters to a telephone associated device includes the steps of: (a) receiving a web-page to be used for setting the parameters by accessing from a client terminal (e.g., a personal computer registered by a user) to a web-server via a wide area network, (b) inputting parameter information onto the web-page by operating the client terminal, (c) transmitting the parameter information to the web-server, (d) then transmitting the parameter information to a CTI server via the wide area network, (e) transmitting the information with a DTMF signal or a modem signal from the CTI server to a modem mounted to the telephone associated device and hooked up to a public switched telephone network. This structure allows a user to set various conditions to the telephone associated device based on the parameter information.
Abstract:
The invention provides an image processing system which is suitable to carry out image processing in excellent accuracy while removing influence due to characteristics depending on the type difference and which facilitates wide and flexible adaptation over image capturing devices. A digital camera includes an image pick-up sensor unit which receives images as data, a URL memory unit which stores a URL to indicate an acquisition site of image processing data, and a URL adding unit which adds the URL in the URL memory unit to the image data. The printer includes an RAW data read unit which reads out the image data, a URL acquisition unit which acquires the URL added to the image data, an image processing data acquisition unit which acquires the image processing data from the image processing data storage server based on the acquired URL, and an image data processing unit to process the image data based on the acquired image processing data.
Abstract:
An image reading system includes an image reading device and a terminal device which are connected via a network. The image reading device includes a setting unit for setting parameters, a first storage unit for storing a series of parameters set by the setting unit as one template, and an image reader for reading an image on the basis of the parameters set in the template. The terminal device includes a second storage unit for storing the template stored in the first storage unit.
