Abstract:
The invention features an apparatus for delivering mechanical energy to skin, wherein the apparatus includes: (a) a user output assembly, the user output assembly including: (i) a skin-contactable element having a skin contactable surface; (ii) a motor; and (iii) a transfer member for transferring energy from the motor to the skin-contactable element a transfer member for transferring energy from the motor to the skin-contactable element; (b) a receiving element adapted to receive user-attribute data that is provided to the apparatus by a user; and (c) a controller coupled to the receiving element and the user output assembly, wherein the controller provides action instructions to the user output assembly based upon the user-attribute data received by the receiving element.
Abstract:
The invention features a method of administering a skin benefit agent to an expanse of skin, wherein the method includes: (a) contacting the expanse of skin with an apparatus, the apparatus including: (i) a skin-contactable element having a skin-contactable surface; (ii) a motor; and (iii) a transfer member for transferring mechanical energy from the motor to the skin-contactable element in order to provide periodic motion to the skin-contactable surface; and (b) after contacting the expanse of skin with the apparatus has ceased, further contacting the expanse of skin with a benefit agent, wherein the benefit agent is selected from the group consisting of retinoids, copper moieties, skin-firming agents, depigmentation agents, and combinations thereof.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transdermal drug delivery to be provided to a patient's skin, includes performing a dermabrasion treatment of the patient's skin so as to lower a skin impedance to below a first value. It also includes providing at least one burst of electrical pulses to the patient's skin that has been dermabrasion treated, wherein each pulses in the at least one burst of electrical pulses is stabilized with respect to a current amount.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a cushion apparatus for recovery from fatigue. In accordance with the present invention, theft can be prevented during a sleep, the user can be waked up from sleep, the user can be made to recover from fatigue not only by the applying of vibration to the user's body using the vibration units but also by the applying of heat to the user's body using the heating wire, vibrational noise can be prevented, and the manufacturing process of the cushion apparatus can be simplified, thus improving the manufacturing yield of the cushion apparatus and reducing the manufacturing costs of the cushion apparatus.
Abstract:
A removable component for a probe used to treat a patient's skin with a skin-treatment substance, include an attachment device having a plurality of holes for respectively accommodating a plurality of electrodes disposed on a head of the probe. It also includes at least one gauze pad disposed between the attachment device and the head of the probe. The attachment device is removably attached to the head of the probe.
Abstract:
A method for administering a drug to a patient comprises coupling a valve system to the patient's airway. The valve system is configured to prevent or impede respiratory gases from flowing into the lungs for at least some time such that the intrathoracic pressure is less than atmospheric pressure. A drug is introduced into the patient, and the intrathoracic pressure is lowered using the valve system to cause blood to flow into the thorax and thereby increasing vital organ perfusion to enhance the circulation of the drug.
Abstract:
A personal therapy or sauna compartment is formed with a base, that has a support bed on the interior of the base in which a person can lie. A cover is provided over the base and covers the body of a person lying in the bed, with the head of the person outside of the cover. The bed is supported above massage shower heads that provide massage water impingement upwardly against the back of the person on the bed. Infrared heaters are placed in the cover, and shower heads in the cover provide for comfort and showering the person lying on the bed. A mist head is provided for adding in liquid forms of vitamins, hormones, and other therapeutic elements capable of being absorbed by the skin. The cover has large translucent side panels for the majority of the sides of the panels, and is supported on a central spine frame pivoted at a foot end to the base, with a hoop at its open or head end. The cover hinges to open and close relative to the base.
Abstract:
A beauty treating device is provided with a device body 1 in which a motor 3 having an eccentric rotor 2 built as a vibration generating section. A beauty treating chip 10 is fixed to a leading end of the device body 1 to conduct vibration from the vibration generating section. The beauty treating chip 10 is kept vibrating and contacted to the skin surface of a user so to penetrate the beauty treating agent into the skin of the user. The beauty treating chip 10 has a porous base material, and the beauty treating agent is impregnated and kept in the porous base material. For the beauty treating chip, a chip shaped whetstone which is formed of ceramics abrasive grains having a particle size in a range of null80 to null800 can also be applied.
Abstract:
A massage device for creating a massaging action. The massage device may include at least two massaging projections mounted in relation to a flexible fluid supply conduit, such as a shower hose. The device may include a chamber for containing an impeller, and the fluid supply conduit may include an outlet for fluid to contact the impeller and cause the impeller to rotate. At least one weight is disposed in the head and is coupled to the impeller eccentric to a rotational axis of the impeller for moving the projection in an oscillatory motion, which creates the massaging action. The head may be supplied on a handle, or along the fluid supply conduit.
Abstract:
A treatment table has a raised surface portioned to receive a person desiring treatment. The raised surface has an associated face position, either included in the surface or a face rest removably attached to the table for receiving the person's face when the person desiring treatment lays on their stomach on the raised surface. The face position having an opening to facilitate unobstructed breathing. An aroma dispenser is positioned near the opening so that the aroma given off by the dispenser may be inhaled by the person desiring treatment.
