Abstract: An ultraviolet reflective material having high reflectance in a wavelength region from the short-wavelength ultraviolet region inclusive of 200 nm to the long-wavelength ultraviolet region inclusive of 400 nm, and in particular having high reflectance in an ultraviolet region at 200 to about 315 nm, i.e., from UVC to UVB where reflectance could not be conventionally obtained, among them particularly at 250 nm or below in the short-wavelength ultraviolet region; and does not undergo discoloration/degradation upon irradiation. Ultraviolet reflective materials have ultraviolet reflective layers containing a condensation-cured silicone resin and ultraviolet reflective filler particles of alumina, magnesium hydroxide, calcium fluoride, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum nitride, and the like, and has a reflectance of 60% or more at a wavelength of 405 nm.

Abstract: A polymer composition hat comprises 100 parts by weight of a polymer matrix that includes at least one polyarylene sulfide and from about 30 parts by weight to about 120 parts by weight of inorganic fibers is provided. The polymer composition exhibits an initial tensile strength and an aged tensile strength after exposure to a solution containing 50 vol. % deionized water and 50 vol. % of ethylene glycol at a temperature of 135° C. for 1,000 hours. The ratio of the aged tensile strength to the initial tensile strength is about 0.8 or more.

Abstract: A tire component formed from a rubber composition comprises a majority weight percent of renewable materials. The rubber composition comprises, based on 100 parts per weight (phr) of elastomer: a blend of at least two rubber elastomers selected from a group consisting of: from about 15 phr to about 50 phr polybutadiene; up to about 20 phr of styrenebutadiene copolymer; up to about 90 phr of natural rubber; a bio-derived resin material; a vegetable triglyceride oil; and a bio-derived filler comprising silica and carbon black filler. The carbon black filler is at least partially derived from a bio-based feedstock prior to its addition to the rubber composition. The resin and the silica are also derived from renewable materials. In some embodiments, the contemplated polybutadiene may be from mass balanced feedstocks.
