The load bearing qualities are set out in a series of tests. Other additives, e.g. natural or synthetic hydrocarbons and other lubricants, may be included in the composition.
Abstract:
A composition and method for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force of a wire or cable are provided. A composition of aqueous emulsion is provided that is environmentally friendly, halogen free and solvent free. The composition is compatible with various types of insulating materials and may be applied after the wire or cable is cooled and also by spraying or submerging the wire or cable in a bath. The composition contains lubricating agents that provide lower coefficient of friction for wire or cable installation and continuous wire or cable surface lubrication thereafter.
Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a lubricant composition comprising a water-miscible silicone material having a silicone emulsion wherein the silicone emulsion contains less than 500 ppm of a triethanolamine salts of alkyl benzene sulfonic acid compounds.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a low-friction member imitating shark skin and a manufacturing method therefor, the low-friction member implementing a structure similar to shark skin and having riblets by stacking, in layers, composite particles formed by attaching spherical particles on the surfaces of plate-shaped particles, and thus the low-friction member has excellent low-friction characteristics. The present invention comprises: a base plate; plate-shaped particles stacked in layers on the surface of the base plate in the form of scales; and a plurality of spherical metal lubricating particles having a size smaller than that of the plate-shaped particles, and coated on the surfaces of the plate-shaped particles, wherein the metal lubricating particles are arranged in the form of a bridge connecting the base plate and the plate-shaped particles, and the plate-shaped particles to each other.
Abstract:
A water-based lubricant for plastic working of a metallic material is obtained by adding to a water-based medium: (A) a polymer and/or a salt thereof containing a carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof as a constituent monomer; (B) an oxoacid of tungsten, of silicon, or of phosphorus, or a condensate thereof, and/or a salt thereof; (C) a hydroxide of an alkali metal; and (D) a lubricating component (D), and the solid content weight ratio (A)/[(A)+(B)+(C)+(D)] is 0.05 to 0.4.
Abstract:
A method involves the coating of a metallic substrate with a blasting medium through sandblasting or equivalent techniques. The blasting medium is preferably a powder made of silicon nitride (or other ceramic or engineering materials). The sandblasting process allows the silicon nitride powder to form a loosely packed layer on the substrate. With additional treatment via rolling and/or sliding action against a secondary body in the presence of a liquid lubricant, the loosely packed particle layer turns into a flattened surface matrix consisting of particle clusters and irregular cavities. The silicon nitride particles are spontaneously attached to the substrate surface without the use of an adhesive agent which subsequently leads to the formation of a surface matrix exhibiting a chaotic hybrid topography with zero tensile stress when subjected to rolling/sliding contact pressure. This cluster-cavity matrix can evolve continuously (thus dynamic) and is immune to debris indentation from dirty lubricants. It is a complex, self organizing, and adaptive system. The practical value of this invention is to greatly enhance the fatigue and wear life of the bearing substrate and other objects coming into contact with the treated substrate.
