Abstract:
The invention makes it possible to measure binding of a biochemical substance with a high throughput and with high sensitivity using a small cell capable of being filled with a small amount of chemical solution. A space between a first substrate and a second substrate such that probes are immobilized on their mutually facing planes is used as a cell that houses a specimen solution. Light is irradiated from a first substrate side, and reflected light is subjected to spectroscopy. Binding of the target with the probe is detected by a wavelength shift in the refection spectrum.
Abstract:
A system for detecting target elements such as bacteria in a host analyte, comprising a substrate with an ordered array of wells having diameters to fit the size of the targets. The substrate may be a periodic macro-PSi array structure (MPSiAS) illuminated with a broadband source. The reflected light spectrum diffracted from the substrate is optically analyzed to provide the effective optical depth of the wells. Fast Fourier Transform analysis may be used for the optical analysis. Entry of target elements into wells is detected by the change in the effective optical depths of the wells. Micro-organisms as large as bacteria and viruses having dimensions comparable with the wavelength of the illumination can thus be detected. Wells with an inner section impenetrable by the target cells enables compensation for environmental changes. The detection may be performed in real time, such that production line bacterial monitoring may be achieved.
Abstract:
For an automated determination of a ammonia nitrogen content in a liquid sample, an analyzer and method are provided. The following steps are performed by the method: generating a reagent solution by electrolysis that contains hypochlorite ions to be added to the liquid sample, and feeding the reagent solution into the liquid sample; feeding at least one other reagent solution into the liquid sample and generating a reaction mixture from the reagent solutions and the liquid sample; sensing a measuring signal with a photometric measuring device that correlates with a measuring variable of the reaction mixture; and on the basis of the measuring signal, determining a measuring value for the ammonia nitrogen content with an electronic control device.
Abstract:
An active imaging system, which includes a light source and light sensor, generates structured illumination. The light sensor captures transient light response data regarding reflections of light emitted by the light source. The transient light response data is wavelength-resolved. One or more processors process the transient light response data and data regarding the structured illumination to calculate a reflectance spectra map of an occluded surface. The processors also compute a 3D geometry of the occluded surface.
Abstract:
A 4-Methylcyclohexanemethanol and fluorescent dye blend. The fluorescent dye selected from a group consisting of a naphthalimide dye, a perylene dye, and combinations thereof. In one embodiment, the mixture includes a polyol ester oil, a petroleum hydrocarbon and a naphthalimide dye. The fluorescent dye may further comprise a mineral oil, and a perylene dye.
Abstract:
A fluorescence viewing device is configured to take a difference between one of an image of a first frame and an image of a second frame output from an imaging device and the other of the first frame image and the second frame image stored in an image storage means, whereby clear observed images can be obtained without influence of background light. In the fluorescence viewing device, an exposure time of a fluorescence image acquisition period and an exposure time of a background image acquisition period are different from each other. Since ON/OFF durations of excitation light also become asymmetric according to the asymmetry of the exposure times, the device can reduce user's feeling of strangeness due to blinking of the excitation light.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a detecting device and a detecting method of a transparent display panel. The method comprises: providing a reference pattern sheet having n pairs of first regions with a first color and second regions with a second color alternately arranged in a first direction, and each of the first regions and each of the second regions having a same predetermined width D in the first direction; forming a uniform predetermined illuminance on the reference pattern sheet; detecting directly the reference pattern sheet by a measuring device; detecting the reference pattern sheet through the transparent panel display by the measuring device; and thereby determining a clarity of the transparent display panel.
Abstract:
A method of detecting particles in an air flow is described. The method includes receiving a signal indicative of light intensity scattered from the air flow at a plurality of wavelengths and processing the signal indicative of the intensity of received light at each of the wavelengths and a corresponding wavelength dependent parameter to generate an output signal indicative of at least one characteristic of particles in the air flow. A particle detection system is also described.
Abstract:
Example embodiments relate to an apparatus and method for inspecting a substrate defect. The substrate defect inspecting apparatus includes a substrate, a light source emitting an infrared beam to the substrate, a detector detecting the infrared beam reflected from the substrate, and a defect analyzer receiving first information and second information from the detector and analyzing defects existing in the substrate. According to at least one example embodiment, the second information is acquired during a later process than the first information.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for detecting metals in a liquid are described. The liquid is contacted with a hexahydrotriazine and/or a hemiaminal material, and a UV absorption spectrum of the material before and after exposure to the liquid is examined to determine whether metals are present in the liquid.
