A network system enables controlling an image input device without requiring a driver that depends on the computer environment. A client terminal has a component that acquires a web page having an embedded scanner control script that controls image input from a scanner; a component that sends an image acquisition request through an interface board to the scanner as controlled by the scanner control script; and a component that gets an image from the scanner as a response to the image acquisition request as controlled by the scanner control script. The interface board receives the image acquisition request, and sends the image scanned by the scanner based on the received image acquisition request to the client terminal.

A host device includes a communication interface unit to receive status information from an image forming apparatus, an error processing unit to control the communication interface unit to transmit error information including the status information to the management server if it is determined that the image forming apparatus has an error according to the received status information, and a user interface unit to display a video manual if a URL address providing a video manual to solve an error of the image forming apparatus is received from the management server.
Abstract:
An operational imaging device and method using a predetermined set of operating parameter determining (OPD) equations forming an OPD equation set for providing one or more operational parameter values for processing of a media sheet. The OPD equation set, stored in the operational imaging device, is solved using values for a set of N variables measured by an operational sensor set in the operational imaging device. Each equation solution determines a value for one of the operating parameters. The OPD equation set is generated by a training system using a continuum training engine. A training data set containing measured variable values of the set of N variables is collected using by a training sensor set. The training data set includes empirical best match data values for the one or more operational parameters based on a comparison of a model image to images produced by a training imaging device.

An image reading device includes: a supplying tray on which a document is placed; a document conveyer that successively conveys the document placed on the supplying tray toward a reading position; a plurality of detection sensors that are disposed in a plurality of positions in a width direction intersecting a conveyance direction of the document, and detect a front edge of the document in the conveyance direction when the document is placed on the supplying tray; and a document reading portion that reads an image on the document passing the reading position, and generates an image signal.
Abstract:
According to the present invention, when a terminal apparatus is brought close to a printing apparatus serving as a processing apparatus, the terminal apparatus uses its own NFC unit to acquire, from the printing apparatus, information for communicating with each of one or more network connection units provided in the printing apparatus. Then, using a communication unit, the terminal apparatus then searches for the printing apparatus on a network in accordance with the acquired information. In the case where the terminal apparatus has successfully identified the printing apparatus as being present on the network, the terminal apparatus transmits a processing request to the printing apparatus successfully identified on the network via the communication unit.

A method for generating a print mapping and a method for image processing are described. The print mapping comprises obtaining spectral characteristics for printing fluids and determining reflectance values for computing a gamut in spectral space. The gamut provides a mapping of reflectance to Neugebauer Primary area coverages for a printing device.

An image forming apparatus transmits a database to an external server. The image forming apparatus includes a storage section, a replication section, an encipherment section, a transmission section, a generation section, and an acquisition section. The storage section stores a database therein. The replication section generates a replica of the database stored in the storage section as a replicated database. The encipherment section enciphers the replicated database. The transmission section transmits the enciphered database to the external server each time a predetermined time period elapses. The generation section generates a deciphering key for deciphering the enciphered database. The acquisition section acquires disaster information. Upon the acquisition section acquiring the disaster information, the transmission section transmits the deciphering key to the external server.

The system including a server, comprising a nontransitory storage medium, storing program code configured to: receive a disconnect notice having a disconnect timestamp, the disconnect timestamp representing a time a printer was disconnected from a host computer; receive from a reader a request for validation, the request having a print timestamp derived from a security feature printed by the printer; compare the disconnect timestamp with the print timestamp to determine if the security feature was printed after printer was disconnected from the host computer.

In accordance with one embodiment, a desktop information processing apparatus comprises a touch panel display, an insertion section, a scanning section, an image processing section, a discharging section and a control section. The display surface of the touch panel display is on the upper surface of the top plate of the desktop information processing. An original sheet is inserted into the insertion section. The scanning section reads the surface of the sheet inserted into the insertion section. The image processing section carries out an image processing for the sheet. The discharging section discharges the sheet processed by the image processing section. The control section controls the operation or display on the touch panel display and controls the operations of the image processing section based on the operation.
