Abstract:
A flow-through mixing apparatus for incorporating a dry treatment product into a waste stream. The apparatus comprises a pump for directing a liquid waste from a storage pit/tank, a mixer that receives the liquid waste from the pump, and a valve downstream of the mixer for either recirculating the liquid waste back to the storage pit/tank via a recirculation conduit, or directing the liquid waste to a discharge conduit. The mixer comprising a jet nozzle, a venturi tube and a high-shear assembly. The recirculation conduit establishes a calibration loop for determining the appropriate treatment regimen based on the characteristics of the waste liquid. The recirculation conduit also permits the homogenization of the pit/tank contents prior to addition of the dry treatment product. The dry treatment product introduced in the region of the mixer is subjected high shear forces, thereby incorporating the dry treatment product into the waste stream with increased dispersion and reduced agglomeration.
Abstract:
A water purification unit is described having a number of sub-assemblies arranged in a more or less modular arrangement including a compression unit and a sterilization unit. The water purification unit is operated at a throughput rate less than the maximum throughput rate so that the flow rate of raw water being treated by the water purification unit is as at a predetermined in order to reduce the effects of blinding of the filter. The sterilization rate is calculated in accordance with the predetermined first flow rate so that the dosage rate of sterilization agent remains substantially constant thereby avoiding fluctuations in the dosage rate so that the treated water has an amount of sterilizing agent within a predetermined range.
Abstract:
Integrated sewage or digestible wastes, and fats, oils, greases and waxes (FOG) waste treatment methods, systems and facilities include a slipstream loop incorporating circulation pumps, hot water heat exchangers and conventional anaerobic digesters for continuously circulating actively digesting sludge at a rate to preclude solid settlement accumulation as a warm flowable slurry source. The warmed actively digesting sludge is pumped from the slipstream loop through a rock trap into a delivery/input loop both for aiding transport or delivery of FOG waste to, and for partially filing a closed receiving/conditioning holding tank, where the warmed actively digesting sludge softens and liquefies the FOG wastes offloaded into the holding tank for further treatment at a desired treatment temperature range (whether psychrophilic, mesophilic, or thermophilic). The contents of the closed receiving/conditioning holding tank are continuously mixed by a bottom-top recirculation chopper pump to pre-treat the FOG wastes, liquefying and decreasing solids particle size allowing acidogens in the actively digesting sludge to pre-digest such wastes producing volatile fatty acids, some biogas and a highly bioreactive, flowable feedstock slurry. The produced highly bioreactive, flowable feedstock slurry can then injected back into the actively digesting sludge slipstream loop at a controlled rate where the resultant mixture then is introduced, together with raw sewage or other digestible wastes, into input or head ends of waste treatment systems having anaerobic digesters for digestion of solids and steady-state methane production. Advantages of the integrated system relate to a partial digestion of the FOG in the reaction/holding tank generating volatile fatty acids that suppress expression of methane producing methagens in the holding tank, increased steady-state methane production and significantly reduced solids volume of treated digestible wastes (sewage) and FOG wastes.

Abstract:
A water purification apparatus, comprising a water pump, wherein the water pump inlet port receives water from an external source, a nonreturn valve in fluid communication with the water pump outlet port, and an ionizer chamber in fluid communication with the nonreturn valve output end, wherein the ionizer chamber doses a bacteriacide into water contained in the ionizer chamber. The apparatus also includes a filter, wherein the input end of the filter is in fluid communication with the output end of the ionizer chamber.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for clearing water in a water supply system from micro-organisms, such as Legionella. The water is thereto first filtered to retain a substantial amount of the micro-organisms, and subsequently radiated to inactivate micro-organisms that may still remain in the water, wherein said radiating step acts on the water at least as this water leaves the water supply system through a supply opening, such as a shower head, sprinkler, irrigation nozzle or the like. The invention furthermore relates to an apparatus for clearing water supplied by a water supply system from micro-organisms, a water supply system provided with such apparatus and a shower unit comprising an apparatus according to the invention.
Abstract:
A liquid treatment system that may be self-powered includes a filter and a hydro-generator. A flow of liquid may be filtered with the filter and used to rotate the hydro-generator to generate electric power. The liquid treatment system may include a first liquid flow path that provides treated liquid, and a second liquid flow path that provides untreated liquid. The filter and the hydro-power generator are included in the first liquid flow path so that electric power is generated by the hydro-power generator when liquid flows through the first liquid flow path.
Abstract:
Circulation systems for ponds, lakes, or other bodies of water using a flotation platform, dish, and impeller. One embodiment has a connecting arrangement between the drive motor and the impeller that permits the two to be easily and quickly coupled and uncoupled. The connecting arrangement also is designed to accommodate slight misalignments between the shafts. An arrangement to adjust and calibrate the depth of the inlet to the draft tube is disclosed. The system further includes solar panels that can be pivotally swung outwardly to open positions, angularly adjusted about a horizontal axis, and mounted to face toward the central axis of the flotation platform rather than away from it. Arrangements are further provided to monitor and control the components of the system including remotely from shore.
Abstract:
Recirculating water purification system and method for use with conventional water coolers and the like having a water temperature control device, such as a refrigeration unit or heating element. The invention utilizes a peltier module operative to define a recirculating flow of water within a water reservoir used with the water cooler. Conventional water purification means, such as a water filter, ultraviolet (UV) light, and the like are operatively interconnected with the peltier module so that the water flowing therethrough is continuously purified. Energy to operate the peltier module, and optionally the water purification devices, is provided by-product heat or energy emanating from the water temperature control device. The systems and methods can be used in virtually all types of closed systems.
