Abstract:
A handpiece (10) suited to carry out ultrasound treatments of human tissue to remove localised adiposity, cellulite, etc. The handpiece (10) comprises: a box-shaped body (11) presenting a basin-like concave element (13) the contour of which (CNT), in use, is rested on the skin to be treated; and two ultrasound transducers (15, 16) located on the walls of the concave element (13), the ultrasound transducers (15, 16) being inclined with respect to each other at an angle (alpha) which can be adjusted by electromechanical means. Moreover, between the two ultrasound transducers (15, 16) there is a suction mouth (14) connected to a vacuum pump. The suction mouth (14) is suited to lift a portion of skin, in such a way that two adjoining portions of skin, covered with massage oil or gel, are brought into contact with the ultrasound transducers (15, 16). Only then, the ultrasound transducers can be activated.
Abstract:
A control system for a bathing installation which has one or more electrically powered devices. A line voltage service is connected through a GFCI to power the electrically powered devices, the GFCI adapted to interrupt the service upon detection of a ground fault. A trip circuit may induce a ground fault and trip the GFCI in response to a trip signal, thereby disabling application of electrical power to the electrically powered devices. An electronic circuit is responsive to a fault condition for generating the trip signal.
Abstract:
An adjustable pressure cuff device is provided for the arm or leg of a user for stimulating blood flow and preventing blood clots. The pressure cuff contains a number of bladders which wrap in the direction of the cuff and which are arranged in succession down the arm or leg of a user. An air compressor is connected to the bladders via a multiplicity of tubes, each of which contain a valve. A control module runs the air compressor and sequentially opens the valves to provide air pressure to the bladders in succession along the arm or leg of a user. Further, between the bladders and the valves, additional tubes containing valves are provided to equalize pressure between bladders before exhausting the air from a previously pressurized bladder to save power and allow for increased patterns of bladder pressure. The pressure levels and bladder dwell times may be adjusted by the user or based on predetermined settings. Optionally, the device provides electrical stimulation, pulsations, heating, and cooling.
Abstract:
Nerve treatment/mobilization apparatuses are configured to mobilize a user's peripheral nervous system. The nerve treatment apparatus includes a back support, a pair of force applying members and a neck cradle. Additional optional attachments include upper body nerve mobilization tracks and a lower peripheral nerve mobilization device.
Abstract:
An apparatus and corresponding method for treatment of skin conditions which includes a brushhead member which comprises a first portion which includes a plurality of rings of bristle tufts, the first portion oscillating in operation through a selected angle at a selected frequency and a second portion which also includes a plurality of rings of bristle tufts concentric with the first portion, the second portion remaining stationary in operation. At least one monochromatic light source is included, providing light directed from the brushhead in a direction substantially the same as the bristle tufts, such that the light impinges on the area of skin of the user acted on by the oscillating brushhead.
Abstract:
A jet for use in a whirlpool tub or spa according to a first aspect of the invention includes a motor assembly including an electric motor disposed inside a motor housing, which motor housing includes a frontwardly facing, water-tight recess. Suitable means are provided for mounting the motor assembly in a hole in a tub wall. A centrifugal pump assembly used in the jet includes a rotor-impeller having a rear, magnetically attractable rotor disposable in the recess of the motor assembly and a front set of blades. A cover having water inlet and outlet openings is removably securable over the rotor-impeller. A sensor system is provided which can be connected to the motor to shut off the motor when the cover is removed from the centrifugal pump assembly. The sensor system includes a sensor target disposed on a rear surface of the cover, and a sensor disposed on or near the pump assembly, such that the sensor detects the sensor target only when the cover is secured over the centrifugal pump assembly in one or more predetermined positions.

Abstract:
A control system for a pool and spa. Main line voltage is provided through a single line voltage service and a single ground fault circuit interrupter circuit, facilitating a ground fault test and simplifying installation. The control system acts as a power distribution system for controlling the pool and spa equipment, with a circuit board assembly including individual fuse protection devices and switching circuits. A test algorithm is included, wherein the control system is disabled from normal operation if the GFCI test fails. The pool operator manually enters a water fill command, and the controller system automatically opens the fill valve for a predetermined time interval, and then automatically closes the valve. An emergency disconnect switch is mounted near the bathing area, connected by low voltage wiring to the controller system cabinet. The controller system senses the emergency switch closure and disconnects line voltage to the line voltage loads. The emergency switch closure also remotely induces a ground fault, tripping the GFCI. A sensing circuit allows the controller system to sense the presence of the emergency switch system, and issues a warning and prevents normal operation of the pool and spa system if not connected. A gas pressure sensor monitors the natural gas line, and the heater is disabled and a warning given under low pressure conditions. Abnormal filter backpressure triggers a warning when the filter needs service. A temperature sensor has parallel sensing elements in a common housing to provide separate sensing circuits.
Abstract:
The invention regards a resuscitation system having a chest compression device to repeatedly compress the chest of a patient and thereafter cause or allow the chest to expand. The device includes an electric motor connected to a compression element. A controller is coupled to the electric motor and causes the motor to actuate the compression element according to a predetermined profile. The controller is further operable to draw the compression element away from a patient's chest upon detecting a malfunction.
