Abstract:
A combined cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) system for performing an emergency procedure over the clothing of a patient is provided. The system includes a spinal support rest having a cushion that accommodates a neck portion of the patient, a compression pad operatively connected to the spinal support rest and is adapted to be placed over the patient such that the compression pad is aligned above the heart and chest of the patient. A first arm strap and a second arm strap operatively connected to the compression pad. A power button automatically dials an emergency number to contact a medical professional. An interactive communication unit activates a two way real time video conference with the medical professional on the display to receive a set of instructions from the medical professional in real time to enable a user to perform the emergency procedure on the patient.
Abstract:
A respiration-assistance apparatus or method can include or use a lifting element such as to cyclically push, pull, or lift, toward a superior direction of the subject, at least one subject region during an inhalation portion of a respiration cycle of the subject. A cyclical member can couple the lifting element to a fixed reference. Abdominal or ribcage compression can be provided. A multi-action or other cam can be used, such as together with a reciprocating element. Examples can be configured for use with a wheelchair, a bed, a vacuum or suction affixation element, a wearable garment, etc.
Abstract:
An automated orthotic device with a treatment regimen and a method for using an automated orthotic device with a treatment regimen to provide a plurality of prescribed tension settings. The orthotic device may comprise a body brace, a controller, a data storage means, and a communication means to address the problem of patients being required to visit the physician's office every time an adjustment must be made in the prescribed tension setting in their automated orthotic device. In one embodiment, a plurality of prescribed tension settings in the automated orthotic device are sorted so that as the patient's condition improves, the next prescribed tension setting in the treatment regimen may be applied. In another embodiment, the physician is allowed to edit or supplement a patient's treatment regimen remotely by connecting to the automated orthotic device over a network.
Abstract:
A personal massage apparatus includes a personal massager and can also include a controller for controlling the operation of the massager. The massager includes a motor or other motion-causing device and can also include an interface (e.g., a wireless interface) to the controller (where such a controller is included). The controller is a remote control that can include a motion sensor (e.g., an accelerometer) for detecting motion of the controller (e.g., changes in orientation). The massager can also have a motion sensor for detecting motion of the massager. Circuitry in the controller and/or massager converts the detected motion of the controller or massager into control signals for the controller or massager. The operation of the controller or massager (e.g., the output motor power, a vibration pattern, or another massage setting) is adjusted based on the detected motion of the controller or massager.
Abstract:
There is presented a system and method for providing real-time object recognition to a remote user. The system comprises a portable communication device including a camera, at least one client-server host device remote from and accessible by the portable communication device over a network, and a recognition database accessible by the client-server host device or devices. A recognition application residing on the client-server host device or devices is capable of utilizing the recognition database to provide real-time object recognition of visual imagery captured using the portable communication device to the remote user of the portable communication device. In one embodiment, a sighted assistant shares an augmented reality panorama with a visually impaired user of the portable communication device where the panorama is constructed from sensor data from the device.
Abstract:
A sexual stimulation device has a housing and an exposed sexual organ contact surface supported by the housing. The housing defines an elongated internal cavity having a longitudinal axis extending away from the contact surface. The device also includes a mass laterally constrained within and movable linearly along the cavity, and an electrically driven actuator disposed within the housing and operable to accelerate the mass along the axis of the cavity, thereby oscillating the contact surface in a linear motion along the longitudinal axis.
Abstract:
A linear actuator is disclosed, that comprises a stator containing more than one coil, a mover containing more than one magnet, each said magnet separated from the adjacent magnet by a spacer, a power supply operable to provide current to said coils of said stator, at least one magnetic flux sensor, and a controller operable to control the relative motion between said stator and said mover, the controller comprising a module to measure the magnetic flux observed by the sensor and use that as feedback to control the motion of the mover relative to the stator. In a preferred embodiment, this linear actuator is used in a sexual appliance with user control over the linear actuator motion profiles.
Abstract:
A method for automated CPR is disclosed. The method comprises controlling a position of a compression element during movement of the compression element from a first starting position (P0) of a first compression cycle to a first compression position (P1) corresponding to a first compression depth and back to a rest position of the compression element, and after the rest position has been reached, controlling a force exerted on the compression element until a second compression cycle starts. A computer program product comprises a non-transitory computer-usable medium having control logic stored therein for causing a transceiver to execute a method for automated CPR.
Abstract:
A device for accommodation training includes a primary light and a sensor supported by a housing and configured to be worn atop the head of the user to capture light reflected by the retina. One or more alignment lights may be provided, along with mounts for adjusting the positioning of the lights and sensor. A feedback signal such as an audible tone is produced as a function of the detected light, providing confirmation to the user that a desired control over the ciliary muscle has been achieved.
Abstract:
The present invention relate to a massager system also referred to as a modular erogenous stimulation system that comprises functional interchangeable building blocks including at least one vibrator component, which can be a vibratory device for stimulating the erogenous zones, and at least one control component, which can be a control module that can be docked with and removed easily from the vibratory component. The present invention also relates to embodiments of the at least one vibratory apparatus that may be worn by a female for stimulating the internal vaginal erogenous zones, external clitoral erogenous zones, or both the internal vaginal erogenous zones and external clitoral erogenous zones of the female genitalia simultaneously, or by a male for stimulating the female erogenous zones, the male erogenous zones, or both simultaneously.
