Abstract:
A glue applicator nozzle and an electrode are placed facing each other, with a gluing object between. The applicator nozzle is connected to a high-frequency-wave transmitter unit, while the electrode is bound to a high-frequency-wave receiver unit. The glue is discharged from the applicator nozzle, and applied on the gluing object, so that the state of continuous presence of glue between the applicator nozzle and the gluing object enables the transmission of the high-frequency wave between them for monitoring the desired performance of gluing process. In an alternate arrangement the electrode is set on the side of the applicator nozzle, and facing the glue applied on the gluing object.
Abstract:
A paint in a paint pan is picked up through a gap h.sub.PA formed between a pickup roll and an applicator roll, part of the paint is attached to the applicator roll and delivered to a sheet as a supply flow rate q.sub.A. The film thickness coated on the sheet is controlled in accordance with a model equation: M={(q.sub.A -q.sub.L).multidot..gamma..multidot.C}/LS which has evaluated a difference between the supply flow rate q.sub.A and a leak flow rate q.sub.L not transferred onto the sheet, remaining on the applicator roll and escaping through a gap h.sub.AS (.gamma. is the specific gravity of the paint, C the concentration of a solid content of the paint and LS a moving speed of the sheet).
Abstract:
In the two-sided coating of a web by feeding the web through the nip of a pair of pressing rolls onto which the coating substance is metered, the amount of the coating substance applied to each pressing roll is measured by infrared absorption and the relative coating quantities RW.sub.o onto the upper side and RW.sub.u to the underside are calculated by the relationsRW.sub.o =M2.sub.o /(M2.sub.o +M2.sub.u) andRW.sub.u =M2.sub.u /(M2.sub.o +M2.sub.u); andwhere M2.sub.o represents an infrared absorption measurement of the coating on the roll applying the coating to the upper side and M2u represents the absorption measurement of the coating on the roll applying the substance to the underside of the web.
Abstract:
Uniformity of hot melt coatings on thermally sensitive plastic and other webs is maintained by use of a silicone or other rubber-like web back-up roll the dimensional stability of which is maintained during hot melt coating of the webs by a heat-conducting idler roll directly contacting the back-up roll temperature and a heat transfer source for temperature deficiencies on the silicone roll surface, aiding constant nozzle-to-web spacing irrespective of temperature variations and line speeds. Provision is also made for the introduction of chilling, if required.
Abstract:
A web coating assembly for applying hot melt adhesives or the like as a coating on a web including a structure for mounting either the breast roller or the extrusion head to minimize web breakage at the extrusion head hot melt applying opening. A lead-in wedge is formed between the breast roller and the extrusion head forming lip; a structure is provided for effecting pivotal movement of the extrusion head and breast roller with respect to each other so that the size of the lead-in wedge increases at a greater rate during relative movement between the extrusion head and the breast roller than the distance of the coating thickness determination portion of the extrusion head from the breast roller. If the breast roller is pivotally mounted, the stationary pivot point therefor is located on the same side of the vertical center line of the extrusion head opening as the lead-in wedge, and is located vertically above a horizontal plane passing through the center of the breast roller. If the extrusion head is pivotally mounted, the stationary pivot point therefor is located on the opposite side of the vertical center line of the extrusion head opening as the lead-in wedge and vertically below a horizontal plane passing through the connection point of a lever arm for mounting the head to the head.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to opposables including a body having a plurality of cavities disposed therein. Each cavity can be designed to contain one or more reagents, liquids, or fluids which may be applied to a specimen-bearing surface. In some embodiments, the cavities include one or more reagent chambers, the reagent chambers can have one or more seals such that the reagents, liquids, or fluids contained therein may be stored and released to the specimen-bearing surface.
Abstract:
Provided are a coating device and a coating method which suppress the occurrence of exhaustion of a coating liquid. A coating device which applies a coating liquid to an upper surface or a lateral surface of a long substrate continuously traveling in a specific traveling direction has: a bar which is capable of being brought into contact with the upper surface or the lateral surface of the long substrate continuously traveling in the specific traveling direction via the coating liquid, and is rotated; and at least two stages of dam plates which are provided on the upstream side in the traveling direction of the long substrate with respect to the bar, and allow the coating liquid to flow to the long substrate via a space between the dam plate and the bar. The at least two stages of dam plates are arranged along the traveling direction.
Abstract:
Systems and methods related to dispensing fluid and controlling a dispensing operation. The system includes a fluid dispenser including an inlet and an outlet, the dispenser being operable to start and stop the flow of the fluid from the outlet onto a substrate. The system also includes a fluid supply reservoir adapted to hold the fluid, and having an outlet coupled in fluid communication with the inlet of the fluid dispenser to establish a flow path for the fluid between the fluid supply reservoir and the outlet of the fluid dispenser. The fluid supply reservoir further includes a pneumatic input coupled to an air flow path adapted to receive pressurized air for forcing the fluid from the outlet of the reservoir. An electronic air flow meter device is operatively coupled to the air flow path to produce electrical output signals.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for applying a fluid onto a number of surfaces. The apparatus comprises a structure, an applicator associated with the structure, a first control device associated with the structure, and a second control device associated with the structure. Applying a first force to the first control device causes the applicator to move relative to a center axis of the applicator. Applying a second force to the second control device causes the fluid to be delivered from a fluid dispensing system to the applicator.
