Abstract: A continuous variable valve duration apparatus may include: a camshaft; first and second cam portions on which a cam is formed respectively, to which the camshaft is inserted and of which relative phase angles with respect to the camshaft are variable; first and second inner brackets transmitting rotation of the camshaft to the first and second cam portions respectively; a slider housing in which the first and second inner brackets are rotatably inserted, and on which a control slot is formed; a cam cap rotatably supporting the first and the second cam portions and to which the slider housing is slidably mounted; a control shaft which is parallel to the camshaft and on which a control rod is eccentrically formed; an eccentric plate rotatably connected to the control rod and rotatably inserted into the control slot; and a control portion selectively rotating the control shaft.

Abstract: Provided is a novel valve timing control apparatus capable of reducing an axial length and of reducing a thickness of a housing. A valve timing control apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes a timing pulley to which a rotational force is transmitted from a crankshaft via a timing belt, a housing configured to be rotated by the timing pulley and including a plurality of shoes provided on an inner peripheral surface thereof, and a vane rotor relatively rotatably contained inside the housing and configured to be rotated in synchronization with a camshaft. The vane rotor includes a vane forming a retard angle oil chamber and an advance angle oil chamber inside the housing in cooperation with the plurality of shoes. A predetermined interval is provided between an outer peripheral portion of the housing and an inner peripheral portion of the timing pulley. An outer peripheral portion of a housing main body of the housing and the inner peripheral portion of the timing pulley are coupled with each other via a plurality of coupling beam portions with intervals in a circumferential direction. The housing main body, the timing pulley, and the plurality of coupling beam portions are integrally formed.

Abstract: A method for controlling intake and exhaust valves of an engine may include: determining, by a controller, a target opening duration of the intake and exhaust valves according to a control region determined based on an engine load and an engine speed; modifying, by an intake continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) device and by an exhaust CVVD device, opening and closing timings of the intake valve and exhaust valve based on the target opening duration of the valves; and advancing or retarding, by the intake and/or exhaust CVVD devices, the opening timing of the intake and exhaust valves while simultaneously retarding or advancing the closing timing of the intake and exhaust valve by a predetermined value based on the target opening durations. In particular, the controller classifies five control regions based on the engine load and speed.
