When an instruction for combine setting is accepted, a reduction ratio of an original image is set as a first reduction ratio based on an orientation of the original image and an orientation of output paper. When an instruction to change the reduction ratio for the previewed original image is accepted, if a reduction ratio after the change (a second reduction ratio) falls within a prescribed range from the first reduction ratio, the first reduction ratio is set as a reduction ratio of the original image for arranging onto a sheet of output paper in combination.

There is provided an image output apparatus characterized by comprising: first communication control means for controlling communication using a first protocol; second communication control means for controlling communication relating to an image using a second protocol; image output means for executing image outputprocessing based on an image supplied under the communication control by the second communication control means; and link control means for performing control relating to disconnection of the communication by each of the first communication control means and the second communication control means. When disconnection of the communication by the first communication control means is detected, the link control means holds disconnection processing of the communication by the second communication control means based on a state of the communication control relating to the image by the second communication control means.

A monitoring system includes a monitoring apparatus and a monitoring-target apparatus connected therewith via a network. The monitoring apparatus includes an inquirer that inquires as to whether or not the monitoring-target apparatus is capable of obtaining a status thereof. The monitoring-target apparatus includes a responder that transmits, when the monitoring-target apparatus is in a first status in which the status is obtainable, a response to the inquiry. The monitoring apparatus further includes a receiver that receives the response to the inquiry, and a requester that requests, when the receiver receives the response, the monitoring-target apparatus transmitted the received response to obtain the status of the monitoring-target apparatus. The monitoring-target apparatus further includes a communication controller that does not respond to the inquiry and the monitoring-target apparatus is in a second status in which the status is not obtainable, and that maintains the local monitoring-target apparatus in the second status.

An image forming apparatus forms adjustment patterns having a predetermined edge interval on a recording medium, while moving a carriage mounted with recording heads that eject a liquid droplet on the recording medium and formed of a sub-scanning motor and the like in a main-scanning direction by a main-scanning motor. The image forming apparatus performs a positional deviation correction process in which the adjustment pattern formed on the recording medium is read by a reading sensor mounted on the recording heads, while moving the carriage in the main-scanning direction, to correct a positional deviation of a landing position of the liquid droplet ejected from the recording heads based on an ideal interval between the adjustment patterns and a read result of the reading sensor repeatedly at least twice.

Provided is an image processor and image processing method that are capable of suppressing both density unevenness and graininess that occur due to deviation of the printing position of dots that are printed by a plurality of relative movements (or a plurality of printing element groups). In order to accomplish this, the dot overlap rate of an image characteristic in which density unevenness stands out is made higher than the dot overlap rate of an image characteristic in which other defects stand out more than the density unevenness. By doing so, it is possible to suitably adjust the dot overlap rate according to an image characteristic, and to output an image having no density unevenness or graininess.
