Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to an internal combustion engine cylinder head. In one example embodiment, the cylinder head includes a combustion chamber, a fire deck, an intermediate deck remote from a combustion chamber, a central receptacle that receives an injection or ignition device, at least one valve bridge, at least two adjacent gas exchange valves, a top-down cooling system, at least one first transfer opening, and at least one second transfer opening. The top-down cooling system including a first sub-cooling chamber and a second sub-cooling chamber. The at least one first transfer opening positioned between the first sub-cooling chamber and the second sub-cooling chamber. The at least one second transfer opening positioned between the first sub-cooling chamber and the second sub-cooling chamber is arranged in the region in the region of the at least one valve bridge between the at least two adjacent gas exchange valves.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to, for example, a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine. In one embodiment of the present disclosure, the cylinder head includes at least one upper partial cooling chamber, a lower partial cooling chamber, an intermediate deck and at least one flow connection. The upper and lower cooling chamber are separated from one another by the intermediate deck. The intermediate deck having an element of single-wall design which extends into a combustion chamber and penetrates the intermediate deck. The at least one flow connection is positioned in the region of the element between the at least one upper and lower partial cooling chambers. The at least one flow connection formed by at least one recess on the element which tapers towards the one lower partial cooling chamber.

Abstract: A valve-actuating device for a valve of a reciprocating piston engine having a coupling apparatus with a locking element able to be brought into a first and second position by a mechanical switching device, the switching device comprising a guide rod and a parallel actuating rod capable of relative movement; a slotted guide element movably mounted on the guide rod for moving the locking element; a triggering element coupled to the slotted guide element; where the slotted guide element and triggering element are clamped between two stops on the actuating rod, each with an associated spring element, where the slotted guide element and the triggering element are displaceable along and/or parallel to the guide rod with the actuating rod; and a blocking element interacting with the triggering element which in a first state, blocks a displacement of the triggering element and the slotted guide element upon the axial displacing of the actuating rod such that the spring elements are preloaded, where in a second state, a displacement of the triggering element and the slotted guide element effects actuation of the coupling apparatus.

The support and the ring extend at least from the oil deck to the fire deck thereby bounding the combustion chamber, and the component is connected to the plurality of cylinder head screws.

In one example embodiment, the cylinder head includes at least one spark plug having at least one earth electrode, a precombustion chamber accommodating the at least one spark plug, and a fuel channel which leads into the precombustion chamber. The fuel channel having a flow axis at an outlet that is oriented in the direction of the at least one earth electrode. An axis of rotation of the at least one spark plug has an offset with respect to the flow axis between 0 and 15% of the greatest precombustion chamber diameter.

To enable the compression ratio to be adjusted in the simplest and most reliable manner possible, according to the invention the two rod parts (2, 4) can be fixed, by a locking device (32), relative to one another in at least one position, preferably corresponding to a minimum length of the con rod (1).
