Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to perforated filter media and coalescing filter elements utilizing perforated filter media. One example coalescing filter element is structured to separate a dispersed phase from a continuous phase of a mixture. The filter media includes a first coalescing layer. The first coalescing layer includes a first filter media. The first filter media has a plurality of pores and a first perforation. Each of the plurality of pores is smaller than the first perforation. The first perforation is formed in the first filter media and extends through the first filter media. The plurality of pores are structured to capture a portion of the dispersed phase. The first perforation is structured to facilitate the transmission of coalesced drops of the dispersed phase through the first coalescing layer such that the coalesced drops of the dispersed phase are separated from the portion of the dispersed phase captured in the first coalescing layer.

Abstract: A filter cartridge is for a vehicle fluid filter group that includes a filter body and cartridge engagement members in the filter cartridge and body engagement members in the filter body. The cartridge engagement members and body engagement members are configurable by mutual axial movement between an engagement configuration and a disengagement configuration. The cartridge filter includes an end plate with the cartridge engagement members arranged around the cartridge axis. The cartridge engagement members include two blocking groups, each blocking group including a blocking element. Each blocking element includes a stem and a tooth laterally projecting from the stem and defining an engagement undercut. In the blocking configuration, the tooth is in a housing region of the body engagement members, and an engagement projection is housed in the undercut. In axial movements, each stem yields elastically radially and/or laterally upon action of the engagement projection on the tooth.

Abstract: A filtration system interconnection structure having a filter manifold including a sump housing and a first correlated magnet located on or connected to a portion of the manifold, and a filter cartridge including a filter media, first and second end caps sealed to the filter media, and a second, paired correlated magnet located on or connected to the filter cartridge housing body. The first and second correlated magnets are interconnected via magnetic communication upon insertion of the filter cartridge into the sump housing, and upon movement of the filter cartridge into an alignment position, the correlated magnet located on or connected to the manifold is permitted to translate as a result of the magnetic communication. The polarity profiles of the paired correlated magnets are aligned such that a repulsion force is created when the filter cartridge is inserted within the manifold sump housing.

Abstract: Referring to the figures generally, a rotating filter cartridge includes a first endcap, a second endcap, and a filter media. The filter media is positioned between the first endcap and the second endcap. The filter media creates a mechanical seal between at least one of the first endcap or the second endcap during rotation of the rotating filter cartridge without the use of a potting material. In at least one embodiment, the rotating filter cartridge further includes a body secured to the first endcap and the second endcap. At least one of the first endcap or the second endcap, and the body, may form a pocket that radially pinches the filter media to form the mechanical seal.

Abstract: A filter arrangement for threadably securing to a filter head includes a housing having a surrounding wall defining an interior volume, an open mouth providing access to the interior volume and an end opposite of the open mouth. The surrounding wall has an exterior and an interior. A filter media construction is operably held within the interior volume. A sleeve, distinct from the housing, is secured to the exterior of the surrounding wall adjacent to the housing mouth and extending partially along the surrounding wall. The sleeve has an exterior and an interior. The exterior of the sleeve defines mounting threads constructed and arranged to removably mount with the filter head, when the filter arrangement is secured to the filter head. The interior of the sleeve is against the exterior of the surrounding wall. A first seal member is oriented against the sleeve to create a seal with a filter head, when the filter arrangement is secured to the filter head. A filter assembly includes a filter arrangement and a filter head. The filter arrangement is removably secured to the filter head by a threaded connection between the sleeve and the filter head. A system includes an engine utilizing a liquid and a filter assembly in fluid communication with the engine to filter the liquid. Methods of making filter arrangements include utilizing structures characterized above.
