Abstract: A mixing apparatus is disclosed for ponds and other shallow bodies of water. The apparatus uses air flow to entrain and move large volumes of water up and through the mixer. This movement of water creates a mixing of water from different depths within the body of water, and thus prevents, eliminates, or reduces stagnation of the water. The air flow is driven by one or more blowers, which may be mounted on the apparatus. The air from the blower is injected into the water about one to two feet below the surface. The air is injected through a series of relatively large holes positioned on opposed sides of tubing. The injected air creates water flow in sufficiently large volumes to mix the water within a shallow body of water of moderate size.

Abstract: The present invention provides stretchable laminates with a flat appearance on the visible surface. The laminates comprise a textile layer, a functional layer, and a plurality of elastic fibers. The plurality of elastic fibers are in a substantially parallel arrangement and the internal distance between adjacent fibers does not exceed the maximum fiber spacing, which depends on laminate thickness in a stretched state. Also provided are garments and footwear comprising the stretchable laminates and methods of producing the stretchable laminates.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a handheld electronic soap device (1), where pH neutral water is poured in the device through a water inlet (2) into an electrolytic cell (11). The pH neutral water is split into acidic ionized and alkaline ionized water by an electrolysis. The alkaline and acidic water can be used for cleaning and rinsing of skin or hair. More particularly, the alkaline water enables to clean skin or hair, whereas the acid water is important to maintain the acid environment on hairs and skin. According to the present invention a user can select between acidic or alkaline water to be poured out of the device through a water outlet (4).

Abstract: A novel solar-powered desalination and water purification system is disclosed herein. The system includes a nanofiber-impregnated graphene aerogel, an untreated water source, a water collection surface, and a purified water storage container. A novel photocatalytic nanofiber-impregnated graphene aerogel for desalination and photodegradation of contaminants for use in the disclosed system is also disclosed herein. The nanofiber-impregnated graphene aerogel exhibits excellent hydrophilicity, thermal insulation, and photodegradation capability, and allows for efficient solar-powered evaporation of water. The introduction of photocatalytic nanofibers into the graphene aerogel allows effective interfacial evaporation and in situ photodegradation of contaminants. The rate of water evaporation is preferably greater than 1.3 gal/ft2 per day, and the contaminant removal is preferably greater than 90%. A method of desalinating and purifying water using the disclosed system is also disclosed herein.

Abstract: A method for treating wastewater, comprising: (i) injecting a hydrate-forming gas (e.g., propane) into the wastewater under conditions of elevated pressure and reduced temperature to form a solid hydrate composed of the hydrate-forming gas and water from the wastewater; and (ii) separating the solid hydrate from the wastewater to result in removal of water from the wastewater, thereby resulting in partially dewatered wastewater, and optionally, (iii) lowering the pressure and/or raising the temperature of the solid hydrate to decompose the solid hydrate into reformed hydrate-forming gas and reformed water, and further optionally, recycling the reformed hydrate-forming gas for use in step (i) and/or capturing the reformed water from step (iii) and further decontaminating until suitable for release into waterway or for use in a process. The invention is also directed to an apparatus for practicing the method described above.

Abstract: A solar powered sediment capture system is disclosed for collecting sediment at environment sites such as lakes and rivers. A mechanical pump directs water from a containment basin to an upper tank and an antistatic pressure tank, both which are elevated. Gravity flow from the upper tank generates vacuum to establish a syphon for drawing a flowable sediment slurry from an environmental borrow site to a filter. Effluent from the filter passes down to the containment basin, which has water level at a lower elevation than that of the borrow site. Anti-static and driller conduits permit gravity flow from the anti-static tank to suspend the sediment and to maintain the slurry at the syphon inlet in a flowable state.
