Abstract: A water-based hydrogel polymer coating and a method of application to natural rubber or other elastomeric latex products are provided. The water-based hydrogel polymer is mixed with a blend of at least one elastomeric material to provide a hydrogel polymer blend composition. The water-based hydrogel polymer blend composition is applied in a single application to an elastomeric article, such as gloves, without additional solvents in the polymer blend composition and without a separate acid or chemical priming step. The water-based hydrogel coating herein provides increased lubricity to facilitate improved wet and dry donning of the elastomeric article.

Abstract: A method for managing the gloss of an organic coating formed on a moving strip on a coil-coating line, the method including the steps of: 1) Setting a set gloss value Gs, a set gloss range Rs and a proportionality constant K of a predefined linear mathematical relation between the temperature of the wet film before UV curing and the gloss, 2) Collecting the measure of the temperature T of the wet film in at least a width portion of the moving strip upstream of the UV curing device and collecting the measure of the gloss G, 3) Correcting a deviation of the measured gloss G beyond Rs, this step including a sub-step of calculating the corrected temperature Tc to be reached by the wet film in the width portion upstream of the UV curing device according to equation: Tc=T+K(G−Gs).

Abstract: This invention relates to a crosslinking component for binder resins which is especially suitable to be used together with epoxy-group containing binders and/or (poly)isocyanates such as blocked (poly)isocyanates and which comprises at least two blocked isocyanate groups per molecule of the crosslinking component whereby at least one of the at least two blocked isocyanate groups is a group according to structural unit (I), wherein the ratio of structural units of formula (II), if present, to structural units of formula (I) is 0.40 or below. The cross-linking component may also be self-cross-linkable. The present invention further relates to a coating composition, e.g. a one-component coating composition comprising the crosslinking component and a method of its manufacture.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an eco-friendly and simple super-hydrophobic coating method that does not use harmful substances and special equipment. Coating according to the present invention may be performed as a single process without special equipment, and because only eco-friendly materials are used, the coating material may be easily used and discarded. In addition, even a three-dimensional pipe or a heat-exchanger having a complex shape may be modified to have super-hydrophobicity by applying the present coating, and a super-hydrophobic metal filter may be manufactured and used for oil-water separation. As a result, the present coating method is eco-friendly, simple, and applicable to various substrates, so it has great potential for application in various industries.

Abstract: A method of applying a lubricious coating of a material such as a fluoropolymer to a cutting edge of a blade includes providing the blade having the cutting edge including a tip end, a first facet, and a second facet with the first facet and the second facet adjacent the tip end. The method further includes generating a plasma stream and directing the plasma stream towards the cutting edge. The method further includes introducing a fluid stream containing a dispersion including the fluoropolymer into the plasma stream, thereby simultaneously plasma treating the cutting edge and depositing solids of the dispersion onto the cutting edge.
