Abstract: Disclosed is a device for inspecting optical power measurement of a light emitter, the device including: a reference light emitter; a measurer configured to measure optical power by receiving light emitted from one of the reference light emitter and a plurality of inspection target light emitters, the measurer including an integrating sphere, a photodiode detector, and a photocurrent or photovoltage measurement device; and a controller configured to calculate a first average of optical power of the plurality of inspection target light emitters by measuring first optical power of a first inspection target light emitter among the plurality of inspection target light emitters, and generate an alarm to stop using the measurer when a difference between the first average and a second optical power of the reference light emitter exceeds a first threshold. Thus, the inspection is more accurately and reliably carried out.

Abstract: Techniques are described for monitoring tire conditions on an autonomous vehicle, more specifically, an autonomous truck that includes a tractor unit and a trailer. An example autonomous vehicle includes a tractor unit configured to be coupled to a trailer that comprises multiple tires. The autonomous vehicle may also include one or more infrared sensors. At least part of the one or more infrared sensors is positioned at a rear side of the tractor unit and faced towards the trailer. The one or more infrared sensors are configured to capture one or more heatmaps each representing a temperature distribution of a tire. The one or more infrared sensors are in communication with a control system that is configured to receive the temperature distribution from the one or more infrared sensors, determine a tire condition of the tire, and operate the tractor unit according to the tire condition.

Abstract: Methods and systems of heating a substrate in a vacuum deposition process include a resistive heater having a resistive heating element. Radiative heat emitted from the resistive heating element has a wavelength in a mid-infrared band from 5 μm to 40 μm that corresponds to a phonon absorption band of the substrate. The substrate comprises a wide bandgap semiconducting material and has an uncoated surface and a deposition surface opposite the uncoated surface. The resistive heater and the substrate are positioned in a vacuum deposition chamber. The uncoated surface of the substrate is spaced apart from and faces the resistive heater. The uncoated surface of the substrate is directly heated by absorbing the radiative heat.

Abstract: A broadband network gateway (BNG) implementing a plurality of virtual gateway routers, each virtual gateway router (VGR) operable to serve as a gateway router for a particular local area network (LAN) of a plurality of LANS, receives a human presence indicator from a customer premise equipment (CPE) of a LAN, the human presence indicator indicating one of that a human has been detected by the CPE or that no human has been detected by the CPE for a predetermined period of time. In response, the BNG performs a quality of service (QOS) action, on a VGR that serves as the gateway router for the LAN, that one of enhances a current QOS associated with the first LAN or decreases a current QOS associated with the first LAN.

Abstract: Techniques for low power indoor/outdoor detection are disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, an integrated sensor hub receives data from an accelerometer. The sensor hub processes the accelerometer data to determine an activity of the user. Depending on the activity of the user, the sensor hub may determine whether the compute device is indoors or outdoors or may receive data from additional sensors, such as a magnetometer, a gyroscope, or an ambient light sensor. The additional sensor data may be used to determine whether the compute device is inside or outside.
