Abstract: Provided herein are systems for fluorescence imaging of an object and methods of use thereof, the systems comprising: an image sensor assembly comprising at least one image sensor; and an optical assembly configured to transmit light emitted from the object to the image sensor assembly, the optical assembly comprising at least one notch filter configured to block light in a plurality of fluorescence excitation wavebands while transmitting fluorescence light that is emitted from the object, wherein the optical assembly is configured to project the emitted fluorescence light as one or more fluorescence images onto the at least one image sensor of the image sensor assembly.

Abstract: A sun exposure sensor for disposable or single use including a substrate having an upper surface and a lower surface; a sun exposure sensing portion disposed on the upper surface of the substrate, the sun exposure sensing portion comprising a fluorescent toner image, wherein the fluorescent toner image increasingly fades upon exposure to sunlight; a sun exposure scale disposed on the upper surface of the substrate, the sun exposure scale comprising an evaluation image for evaluating an amount of fading of the fluorescent toner image; an optional coating layer disposed over all or a portion of the upper surface of the substrate; an optional backing layer disposed over all or a portion of the lower surface of the substrate. A process for preparing the sensor using xerographic toner printing.

Abstract: A method for detecting the presence of or quantification of carbon black and/or black carbon in a sample or carrier medium. The method includes providing the sample or carrier medium without labelling or pre-treatment of the carbon black and/or black carbon particles; illuminating the sample or carrier medium at a temperature below 90° C. by a pulsed light with a pulse duration below 500 femtoseconds, a repetition rate above 1 MHz with an average power below 20 mW, and a wavelength of a femtosecond laser pulse ranging from 700 to 1200 nm, to generate non-incandescence related light emission from the carbon black and/or black carbon particles; and analysis of the light emission.

Abstract: A fluorescence imaging system for imaging an object, the system includes a white light provider that emits white light, an excitation light provider that emits excitation light in a plurality of excitation wavebands for causing the object to emit fluorescent light, a component that directs the white light and excitation light to the object and collects reflected white light and emitted fluorescent light from the object, a filter that blocks light in the excitation wavebands and transmits at least a portion of the reflected white light and fluorescent light, and an image sensor assembly that receives the transmitted reflected white light and the fluorescent light.

Abstract: A light intensity distribution comprises a carbon nanotube array located on a surface of a substrate, a reflector, an imaging element and a cooling device. The carbon nanotube array absorbs photons from a light source and radiates a visible light. The reflector reflects the visible light and is spaced from the carbon nanotube array. The imaging element images the visible light reflected by the reflector. The cooling device is used to cool the substrate to make a contact surface between the substrate and the carbon nanotube array maintain a constant temperature. The cooling device is located between the substrate and the imaging device. The imaging device is spaced from the cooling device.

Abstract: A non-contact system and heating method includes a blackbody core heated according to Molecular Resonant Wavelength-Radio Frequency Heating method. Radio frequency waves of a resonant frequency travel in a hollow channel of a waveguide that contains an object, such as a blackbody core. The core is structurally secured within the waveguide by a spring system that supports the base of the core, yet the core does not touch the waveguide and does not conduct heat to the waveguide. The core absorbs the RF energy and generates heat by molecular friction within the material of the core moving in a resonating pendulumatic fashion. The core converts the RF energy to infrared (IR) energy and emits IR waves through an exit aperture disposed within a hood coupled to the waveguide. A non-contact temperature measurement system measures the temperature of the core, such as using a phosphor decay temperature measurement method.

Abstract: Scanner, method of scanning and system for scanning that allows detecting decay time characteristics of light emitted by a luminescent marking on an item which is transported, even at high speed, on a distribution/production line. The detection zone of the scanner's light sensor has a shape elongated along a path of the moving item, and the responsivity of the light sensor, within the wavelength range of the emitted luminescence light, is uniform over the detection zone. The drive current, or drive voltage, powering the excitation light source is adapted to deliver the intensity of the excitation light to the marking so that its light sensor can reliably measure the corresponding luminescence light response, and thus accurately determine a corresponding decay time value.

Abstract: A paper sheet authentication apparatus determines the type of the paper sheet by using a characteristic other than a fluorescent light characteristic, sequentially emits excitation lights of different wavelengths on the paper sheet, measures an intensity of light per wavelength within a predetermined range emitted by a fluorescent material applied to the paper sheet, and acquires fluorescent light characteristic data as the result. The paper sheet authentication apparatus performs the authentication of the paper sheet by using fluorescent light characteristic data of a genuine paper sheet previously stored per type of the paper sheet or a threshold calculated therefrom and the acquired fluorescent light characteristic data.
