Abstract: Disclosed are hydrophobic, acrylic materials having both high refractive index and a high Abbe number. The materials may have an internal wetting agent, are well suited for use as implantable ophthalmic devices, and have a refractive index which may be edited through application of energy. When used for an intraocular lens, the high refractive index allows for a thin lens which compresses to allow a small incision size.

Abstract: An anti-fog material comprising a zwitterionic-doped hydrogel made up of charged monomers, at least a portion of which comprise zwitterionic monomers, uncharged hydrophilic monomers, and at least one crosslinking agent is disclosed. A composition for forming the hydrogel and a transparent, removable article comprising the anti-fog material are also disclosed. Abstract: A copolycarbonate lens formed from a polycarbonate composition comprising: a copolycarbonate comprising bisphenol A carbonate units and of phthalimide carbonate and optionally, a bisphenol A homopolycarbonate; wherein the second carbonate units are present in an amount of 18 to 35 mol % based on the sum of the moles of the copolycarbonate and the bisphenol A homopolycarbonate, the copolycarbonate comprises less than 2 ppm by weight of each of an ion of lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, ammonium, chlorine, bromine, fluorine, nitrite, nitrate, phosphite, phosphate, sulfate, formate, acetate, citrate, oxalate, trimethylammonium, and triethylammonium, as measured by ion chromatography, and the polycarbonate composition has a bisphenol A purity of at least 99.7% as determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The polycarbonate composition has: a Vicat B120 of 155° C. or higher; and an increase in yellowness index of less than 10 during 1000 hours of heat aging at 155° C.

Abstract: Polymer blend comprising components A, B and C: A: 1 to 19.5% by weight of an elastomeric block copolymer A based on styrene (S-TPE); B: 0.5 to 8% by weight of a compatibilizer component B; and C: 80 to 98.5% by weight of at least one semi-crystalline olefin homo- or copolymer C.
