Abstract:
A method and apparatus include attaching a lighted cup holder to a seating arrangement. The lighted cup holder includes a cup holder body and a light-producing light source, with the cup holder body being attached to the seating arrangement and having a cup receptacle therein, the light-producing source being disposed within the cup receptacle for illuminating the receptacle. A light-sensitive element operatively connected to the light source selectively controls production of light by the light source in such a manner that illumination of the cup holder is provided only under conditions where visibility is reduced to the point that it becomes difficult to locate the cup holder. The light-sensitive element is mounted on a master lighted cup holder and controls illumination of the master lighted cup holder and one or more slave lighted cup holders operatively connected to the master lighted cup holder.
Abstract:
A therapeutic mat is described. The mat provides therapeutic relief in the form of vibratory motion and/or heat. The mat or pad is particularly useful as a floor mat in a vehicle. The mat includes provisions to enable powering the mat from a 12-volt direct current source, such as used in an automobile or other vehicle. A massage module can be removed from the mat to facilitate cleaning of the mat. The mat may also include one or more upwardly extending provisions for massaging the arch region of a user's feet. Also described are illuminated mats. The lights of a mat can operate based upon the operation of another mat, pulsations of the massage module, or based upon acoustic levels in the vehicle.
Abstract:
The waist massager includes an annular massage assembly and a grip assembly. The annular massage assembly is composed of a ring body with a plurality of roller sets arranged on an inside thereof. The grip assembly is connected to the annular massage assembly to be able to push and pull the roller sets transversely.
Abstract:
A facial muscle toner system is provided that includes a base unit and a hand piece unit. The base unit includes a display portion at a front face and a command portion including one or more keys. The hand piece unit is operably connected to the base unit and is located remotely from the base unit. The hand piece unit includes a housing having a receptacle portion and a therapy distribution instrument removably connected with the receptacle portion. The therapy distribution instrument includes a therapy portion to distribute therapy to sub-dermal facial muscles.
Abstract:
A novel medical ambulatory assistive device with improved visual safety. The frame set of an ambulatory assistive device is coated with photo luminescent pigments for visibility in poorly lighted surroundings. An automatically controlled LED lighting unit is mounted on the frame set to provide sufficient visual safety for walking around in poorly lighted area with the device.
Abstract:
An instrument, article and method are provided for minimizing pain during administration by injection of a liquid, such as, an anesthetic. The instrument has a forward end. A lightpipe mounted freely for vibration projects out of the forward end. The article, a single use tip, is composed of a tip sleeve removably mounted on the forward end of the instrument and a tip member removably mounted on the projecting lightpipe to vibrate a preselected injection site on a human or animal. The tip sleeve and tip member are covered by an elastic overmold that enables the tip member to vibrate freely with respect to the tip sleeve and light from the lightpipe to illuminate the injection site. A vibration unit mounted in the instrument is coupled to the lightpipe. The method is carried out by imparting vibrations and illumination via the lightpipe to the tip member.
Abstract:
A replaceable tactile paving pad with electronic components is disclosed. The tactile paving pad comprises a base, a plurality of protrusions extending upwards from the base, a duct portion comprising at least one duct provided on a top surface of the base with an opening provided on the top surface facing upwards, the duct portion extends along a whole length of the base, and an electronic component received within the duct. A system is also disclosed, the system comprising at least one pad and a remote device. The remote device comprises a wireless reader, an input device and an output device. The wireless reader communicates with wireless devices in each pad and a backend server and alerts a user with information retrieved from the backend server.

Abstract:
The universal walker headlight is a lightweight, portable light source adapted for easy attachment to the frame of any walker or rollator. The universal walker headlight uses low power, high brightness light emitting diodes (LEDs) to extend battery life. The universal walker headlight simultaneously illuminates both the area in front of the walker or rollator, and the feet area below the walker or rollator.
Abstract:
An automatic functioning light and warning system with remote signaling for use with mobility assistance devices, such as wheelchairs and walkers, having a housing, at least one detachable clamp connected to the housing, a battery-powered light incorporated into the housing, an internal audio alarm incorporated into the housing, an active or passive motion detection sensor and associated signal processing circuitry incorporated within the housing. The invention may use replaceable or rechargeable batteries as the power source. The remote receiver may be a stand alone device or interfaced into a monitoring system. A time delay circuit may be incorporated into the invention to automatically turn the light or alarm off at a predetermined time after activation and a sensor that prevents actuation of the light source when ambient light is above a predetermined threshold.
