Abstract:
A combination turf stake and frame construction assembly for establishing a framework construction upon a ground surface. The turf stake includes an elongate spike portion having a first inserting end, a second supporting end and a plurality of vane portions projecting in circumferentially spaced apart and axially directed fashion substantially along the spike portion. A substantially polygonal shaped body defining a hollowed and interior cavity is integrally formed atop the second supporting end of the turf stake and substantially corresponds to a likewise polygonally shaped and inserting end of a selected elongate frame construction member so as to engage the elongate member in a friction fit manner. A plurality of turf stakes and frame construction members can be employed to assemble any desired framework construction. Both the turf stakes and frame construction members can be further internally hollowed to facilitate the communication of fluid, such as water, through an interconnecting network of the assembly and to provide irrigation and watering to plants or like vegetation.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a sheet of circuit board material, at least one electrically conductive trace positioned on the sheet of circuit board material, and at least one electrically conductive contact pad positioned on the sheet of circuit board material and coupled to the at least one electrically conductive trace. The apparatus further includes at least one deformation point configured to absorb stresses developed in the sheet of circuit board material when the sheet of circuit board material experiences resistance to expansion or compression caused by connection to an object resisting expansion or compression.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to oligonucleotide-encoded libraries and methods of tagging such libraries. In particular, the methods and oligonucleotides can include one or more 2′-substituted nucleotides, such as 2′-O-methyl or 2′-fluoro nucleotides, and other conditions or reagents to enhance enzyme ligation or one or more chemical functionalities to support chemical ligation.
Abstract:
A generator structure has alternating linear regions which are respectively relatively absorbing and relatively non-absorbing. When the structure is illuminated, the spatial contrast in the absorption created by the characteristics of the regions gives rise to mechanical effects within the workpiece, such as localized heating. This results in ultrasound being created to propagate through the workpiece.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for servicing a turbine are disclosed. Various embodiments of the invention include an apparatus adapted to service a turbine, where that apparatus includes: a base member fixedly mountable on an inlet of the turbine; an adjustment system mounted on the base member; a machining device operably connected to a first end of the adjustment system; and a control member operably connected to a second end of the adjustment system, the control member adapted to modify a position of the machining device to service a portion of the turbine inside the inlet of the turbine.
Abstract:
A system for modifying a slot in a rotor includes a base having a vertical axis. A drill is slidingly connected to the base along the vertical axis, and a clamp is connected to the base and configured to engage with an interior surface of the slot. A method for modifying a slot in a rotor includes locating a drill proximate to the slot and inserting a clamp into the slot, wherein the clamp is slidingly connected to the drill. The method further includes engaging the clamp with an interior surface of the slot and operating the drill to create a cavity in the slot.
Abstract:
A controlling computing device connected to an interconnecting network can control specified functionality of a controllable computing device connected to the interconnecting network by using at least one unique identifier to establish a connection between the controllable computing device and the controlling computing device, with a user interface being provided to the controlling computing device. User interfaces enabling the controlling computing device to control the specified functionality of the controllable computing device may be created and modified by receiving control input comprising associations between actions on the controlling computing device and commands for controlling the specified functionality of the controllable computing device, and storing the actions, associations and commands as part of the user interface. User interfaces may be made available by storing a library of predefined user interfaces and, responsive to a request for a particular one of the user interfaces, transmitting that particular user interface to the requestor.
