Abstract:
Embodiments may include a traction system, for example a cervical traction system for a neck of a user. Systems may include a housing assembly, plate assembly, handle assembly, and cable assembly. The housing assembly may include a drive assembly. The plate assembly may be operatively connected to the drive assembly. The handle assembly may be operatively connected to the drive assembly. The handle assembly may be configured to actuate movement of the plate assembly relative to the housing assembly. Embodiments may be configured to apply traction to the neck thereby providing a distraction distance or force to a portion of the cervical spine.
Abstract:
A spine rehabilitation exercise device comprises a soleplate; and an exercise mechanism disposed on the soleplate, wherein the exercise mechanism comprises a sliding mechanism movably disposed on the soleplate; a supporting base movably mounted on top of the sliding mechanism, the supporting base being capable of rocking on top of the sliding mechanism; a pillow mounted on the supporting base; and an elastic assembly disposed between the pillow and the supporting base. The whole device has simple structure, convenient assembly, small and compact volume and good mobility and portability; the device can not only have health care and therapeutic effects on spine, but also be used as a pillow on other occasions, thereby having high practicability and better flexibility in use; moreover, the device is not driven by a power supply, so that it is safer and more reliable to use.
Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for treating bronchial constriction related to asthma, anaphylaxis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The treatment comprises transmitting impulses of energy non-invasively to selected nerve fibers that are responsible for smooth muscle dilation. The transmitted energy impulses, comprising magnetic and/or electrical, mechanical and/or acoustic, and optical and/or thermal energy, stimulate the selected nerve fibers.
Abstract:
A decorative cushion for providing therapeutic shiatsu massage. The decorative cushion includes a cushion core comprising of a foam structure. An electrically powered massage unit is placed off center in the bottom third of the cushion core. A fabric pouch contains the massage unit. A first cushion cover covers the cushion core. A second cushion cover covers the cushion core when covered with the first cushion cover. The second cushion cover includes various forms of decoration or embroidery for aesthetic purpose.
Abstract:
A cervical splint assembly is provided for a person to alleviate headaches or cervical conditions. The cervical splint includes a splint assembly having a first end, a second end, and a body extending between the first end and the second end. The body has a front and a back and is formed of compressible material and sized to fit between a chin and a top of a chest of the person. A strap has a first end and a second end selectively and adjustably connected together. The strap wraps around the front of the body such that when the splint assembly is secured to a neck of the person using the cervical splint, the splint assembly provides support for a chin of the person, restricts flexion of a neck of the person, and the first and second ends are aligned approximately below earlobes of the person.
Abstract:
A smart mattress includes a mattress base, a bed assembly, a massage module and a wireless control system. The mattress base includes a mattress frame. The bed assembly is mounted on the mattress frame. The bed assembly comprises a multi-section bed board, a stuff layer and a latex layer from bottom to top. The bed assembly and the mattress base are wrapped with a knitted fabric. The massage module is embedded in the bottom of the stuffer layer and connected with corresponding function interfaces of the wireless control system. The massage module includes a shoulder and neck rolling massage unit, a waist rolling massage unit and a leg vibration massage unit. The smart mattress of the present invention can adjust the angle of the head and leg as desired and has a massage function.
Abstract:
A method for providing directions to a blind user of a smart device is described. The method includes detecting, by at least two sensors and in response to a selection of a find mode of the smart device, image data corresponding to a surrounding environment of the smart device and positioning data corresponding to a positioning of the smart device. The method also includes receiving, by an input device, the desired object or the desired location. The method also includes determining, by a processor, the initial location of the smart device based on the image data, the positioning data and map data stored in a memory of the smart device. The method also includes providing, by the output device, the directions to the desired object based on the initial location of the smart device and the map data.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for reducing heat strain. The apparatus includes a pair of receptacles each of which being attached to a web. Each receptacle is adapted to carry a coolant. The web is adapted to engage and be suspended from a foreign object such as a human being or a chair to support the receptacle.
Abstract:
An acupressure appliance to apply pressure to body parts. The acupressure appliance includes a pair of curved rod-like pressure units and a connector connecting the pair of curved rod-like pressure units in a lateral direction. Each pressure unit includes a convex-curved segment of a chevron shape curved continuously in an axial direction, and the pair of curved rod-like pressure units are spaced apart from each other in the lateral direction.
Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods are described which control blood pressure and nervous system activity by stimulating baroreceptors. By selectively and controllably activating baroreceptors and/or nerves, the present invention reduces blood pressure and alters the sympathetic nervous system; thereby minimizing deleterious effects on the heart, vasculature and other organs and tissues. A baroreceptor activation device or other sensory activation device is positioned near a dermal bone to provide the treatment.
