    Abstract: A type II valve train assembly that selectively opens first and second intake valves and first and second exhaust valves is provided. The valve train assembly includes an intake rocker arm assembly and an exhaust rocker arm assembly. The valve train assembly is configurable for operation in any combination of activated and deactivated states of engine braking and cylinder deactivation. The exhaust rocker arm assembly includes a first exhaust rocker arm, a second exhaust rocker arm and an engine brake exhaust rocker arm. A first exhaust HLA is associated with the first exhaust rocker arm. A second exhaust HLA is associated with the second exhaust valve. An exhaust actuation assembly selectively actuates to alter travel of the first and second exhaust HLAs to change a state of cylinder deactivation between activated and deactivated.

    Abstract: A valve system/method suitable for an internal combustion engine (ICE), compressor pump, vacuum pump, and/or reciprocating mechanical device is disclosed. The system/method is optimized for construction of a four-stroke ICE. The rudimentary system incorporates a unitized intake and exhaust engine block cover (UEC) that enclose an intake rotary valve cylinder (IVC) and exhaust rotary valve cylinder (EVC) that control intake/exhaust flow through a respective intake rotary valve port (IVP) and an exhaust rotary valve port (EVP) into and out of a combustion cylinder that provides power to a piston and crankshaft. An intake multi-staged valve (IMV) and exhaust multi-staged valve (EMV) provide intake and exhaust flow control for the IVC/IVP and EVC/EVP. An enhanced system may include a variety of intake/exhaust port seals (IPS/EPS), forced induction (FIN), forced discharge (FID), centrifugal advance (CAD), and/or cooling channel spool (ICS/ECS).

    Abstract: A compression release type engine brake includes a first opening unit and a second opening unit each including an exhaust rocker arm, an adjusting screw provided at an end portion of the exhaust rocker arm, a brake module in which brake oil is selectively and a brake piston mount portion is formed therein, a brake piston which is selectively protruded according to the oil supply inside the brake module, a reset member selectively exhausting the oil in the brake module, and a valve bridge connected to the brake piston and provided with an exhaust valve, and wherein a rocker arm protrusion is formed in the exhaust rocker arm of at least one of the first opening unit and the second opening unit, and the shaft spring presses the rocker arm protrusion and adjusts a distance between the first opening unit and the second opening unit.

    Abstract: A compression-release engine brake system operating an exhaust valve of an engine during a compression-release engine braking operation. The compression-release brake system comprises an exhaust rocker arm and a brake reset device disposed in a reset bore formed in the exhaust rocker arm. The brake reset device comprises a reset check valve, a slider-piston slidably disposed in the reset bore and an external slider bias spring biasing the piston foot away from the brake reset device. The external slider bias spring is disposed outside the reset bore and around the piston-slider. The brake reset device permits pressurized hydraulic fluid to flow from a supply conduit to a reset conduit to supply a brake actuation piston when the reset check valve is open. The actuation piston extends and engages the exhaust valve toward the end of a compression stroke of the internal combustion engine, and the brake reset device resets.

    Abstract: The present invention provides for Variable Valve Actuation comprising a cam, a valve suitable to displace between a closed position and an open condition caused by said cam, and further comprising a main rocker arm suitable to swing over a fulcrum, mechanically interacting with said valve, by means of a guide profile, and wherein said cam interacts with said main rocker arm causing said valve displacement as a consequence of said main rocker arm swinging. The target is to prevent a valve brake due to the guide profile and enable higher system stiffness. Accumulator less designs are feasible with this system.

    Abstract: A method for engine braking on a type III valvetrain diesel engine comprises, on a first downstroke of a reciprocating piston, deactivating a normal intake lift profile on a first intake valve to implement a deactivated intake profile. Before a first upstroke of the reciprocating piston completes, a late intake valve closing lift profile is actuating on a second intake valve and beginning an engine brake lift profile on a first exhaust valve. On a second downstroke of the reciprocating piston, the engine brake lift profile on the first exhaust valve is completing and a normal exhaust lift profile is deactivating on a second exhaust valve to implement a deactivated exhaust profile on the second exhaust valve. Before a second upstroke of the reciprocating piston completes, a second engine brake lift profile is beginning on the first exhaust valve.
