Abstract: An absorbent structure, including a sensor system, can sense and measure the level of wetness contained within the absorbent structure as well as sense and measure environmental conditions. The sensor system may include passive RFID sensors or tags, RFID readers, antenna, a tuning module, a processing module, a memory module and a wireless communication module. The absorbent structure may further include two or more sensors, with a first sensor placed in a first area most likely to first be exposed to liquid and a second sensor spaced apart from the first sensor in an area likely to be exposed to liquid only after the absorbent structure has become more saturated.

Abstract: A method for treating, preventing, or ameliorating cardiovascular disease in a subject involves exposing the subject for an effective duration to a condition of hypobaric normoxia or hypobaric hyperoxia. An apparatus or system useful for treating, preventing, or ameliorating cardiovascular disease includes an airtight chamber configured to accommodate and enclose a subject, and including at least one hatch to allow entry or exit of the subject; a vacuum source for adjusting pressure within the chamber to a level sufficient to maintain hypobaria; and a gas source for introducing one or more gases into the chamber, such as oxygen in an amount sufficient to produce a condition of normoxia or hyperoxia within the chamber, while maintaining hypobaria.

Abstract: A walking training apparatus includes: a treadmill; a walking assistance apparatus configured to be mounted on a leg part of a user and assist the user's walking; a first pulling means for pulling at least one of the walking assistance apparatus and the leg part of the user upward and frontward; a second pulling means for pulling at least one of the walking assistance apparatus and the leg part of the user upward and rearward; and control means for controlling, while the treadmill is not being operated, pulling forces of the first pulling means and the second pulling means in such a way that the direction of a resultant pulling force, which is a resultant force of the pulling force of the first pulling means and the pulling force of the second pulling means, is changed rearward compared to a case in which the treadmill is being operated.

Abstract: A walking assistance apparatus includes: a walking assistance attachment to be attached to a leg of a human body and including a variable stiffness mechanism having stiffness that is changeable in a direction where the human bends and stretches the knee by motor driving; and a controller.
