    Abstract: A curing formulation operative as a lubricant is provided that has a plurality of silicone polymer precursors constituting a majority by weight of the formulation, each of the plurality of the silicone polymer precursors has a single curable moiety. A crosslinker is provided for reaction with the single curable moiety of each of the plurality of silicone polymer precursors to yield a thermoplastic silicone polymer having a majority by total weight of silicone polymer being comb- or branched-polymer form as the lubricant. A process of lubricating an interface is provide that includes the application of an aforementioned composition to the interface. Upon allowing sufficient time for the formulation to cure in ambient temperature conditions, a thermoplastic silicone polymer is formed having a majority by total weight of silicone polymer being comb- or branched-polymer.

    Abstract: A threaded joint for pipes comprises a pin and a box, each having a threaded and unthreaded portion metal contact surface. The unthreaded metal contact portion includes a sealing surface and a shoulder surface, the shoulder surface of the pin located on the pin end surface. A non-contacting region where the pin and the box do not contact each other exists between the sealing surfaces and the shoulder surfaces of the pin and the box. One or more grooves is formed in at least one of the pin and the box shoulder surfaces and extending to the non-contacting region and to the interior of the joint. At least one of the contact surfaces has a solid lubricating coating exhibiting plastic or viscoplastic rheological behavior. A total volume V (mm3) of the grooves and coating weight W (g) of the solid lubricating coating satisfy the equation V/W≧24 (mm3/g).

    Abstract: An aqueous hydraulic fluid composition comprising of one or more lubricants such as a monovalent metal salt, ammonium, or alkanolamine salt of a dicarboxylic acid, such as a C21 dicarboxylic acid is described in which the aqueous hydraulic fluid composition demonstrates increased thermal stability when exposed to elevated temperatures for a prolonged period of time while being able to tolerate the presence of 10% v/v synthetic seawater. The aqueous hydraulic fluid composition contains less than about 20% by weight (preferably none or substantially none) of an oil selected from the group consisting of mineral oils, synthetic hydrocarbon oils, and mixtures thereof.
