Abstract:
An original reader capable of being downsized without requiring a large-capacity image memory. A conveying path conveys an original. Sensors are arranged on the conveying path, for detecting the conveyed original. CCD line sensors read the conveyed original. A CPU of the image reader decides the size of the conveyed original based on the results of detection by the sensors. An image memory stores image data output from the line sensors. The CPU transmits the decided original size and the stored image data to a controller. When the CPU cannot decide the original size at a predetermined timing, it transmits one of original size candidates to the controller, as a provisional original size. When the size of the original decided afterwards is different from the provisional original size, the CPU retransmits the decided size of the original.
Abstract:
A system and method for combining at a single location selection of image finishing operations of multiple devices. The system comprises a first memory for storing imaging finishing operations of the source device; a second memory for storing imaging finishing operations of the destination device; a display; and a system processor, coupled to the first memory, the second memory and the display, for producing a representation of both imaging finishing operations of the source device and imaging finishing operations of the destination device, and causing that representation to be presented by the display. The method comprises retrieving from a first memory information regarding imaging finishing operations of the source device; retrieving from a second memory information regarding imaging finishing operations of the destination device; and producing a representation of both imaging finishing operations of the source device and imaging finishing operations of the destination device, and causing that representation to be presented by a display. The system and method may be particularly adapted for pull printing of an image by a printer in communication with a host computer.
Abstract:

Abstract:
An external device is configured to be directly connected to an image forming device. The external device includes an image storage unit configured to store therein image data. The external device further includes a setting unit configured to issue a plurality of output commands of the image data to an image forming device based on a total number of images to be output by the image forming device and a specified mode indicative of a number of images to be output onto one side of a medium. The external device further includes a communication unit configured to transmit the image data based on the plurality of output commands to the image forming device.
Abstract:
When a user applies a pull print request by operating an operation panel unit of an image forming apparatus MFP, a server SRV transmits a list of print data stored therein and setting information of each print data to the image forming apparatus MFP. The image forming apparatus MFP receives the setting information of each print data, and based on device information of itself, calculates compatibility as a degree representing to which extent the request of the setting information of each print data can be satisfied, and displays the print list and the compatibility corresponding to each print data in the list, to the user.
Abstract:
A classification information setting method for classifying contents into series comprises: a similarity determination step for determining a similarity between first contents classified into a series and second contents unclassified yet; and a classification setting step for setting, in case the similarity exists, classification information related to the first contents, as classification information for the second contents. At the similarity determination step, the similarity is determined by comparing text data contained in the first contents and text data contained in the second contents.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an image forming device including a connecting unit for connecting a recording medium in a removable manner; and a writing unit for writing printing data containing setup information concerning a printing condition into the recording medium connected to the connecting unit.
Abstract:
A plurality of image data attached to electronic mail data is stored in a memory. A control unit identifies an image having the largest width, from among images drawn by each image data. The control unit then computes a contraction scale to be used for fitting the largest image to a display area of its own display unit, and applies the contraction process to data of each of image stored in memory using the computed contraction scale. Thus contracted image data are then displayed on the display unit.
Abstract:
An image processor is provided with an acquisition unit; a discriminating unit; a decomposing unit; and a rearranging unit. The acquisition unit acquires image data and layout information of an original document which are obtained by reading the original document in which the layout information is recorded in advance. The discriminating unit discriminates number of logical pages in the original document, an arranged order of the logical pages, and orientation of the original document, based on the layout information. The decomposing unit decomposes the image data into the logical pages, based on the result of the discriminating. The rearranging unit rearranges the decomposed logical pages according to a predetermined output layout, and outputs image data in which the logical pages has been rearranged.
Abstract:
