Abstract: A nano-emulsion composition having a small particle size and ultra-low concentration and a preparation method thereof is disclosed. The raw materials of the composition comprise, in terms of percentage by weight, 0.002% to 0.2% of a polymer-containing homogeneous microemulsion, water, and 99.998% to 99.8% of an organic salt solution or inorganic salt solution. The composition is prepared by diluting a polymer-containing homogeneous microemulsion with water or a salt solution. The polymer-containing homogeneous microemulsion is formed by mixing the following raw materials, in terms of percentage by weight: 8% to 40% of a surfactant, 0.5% to 10% of a polymer, 10% to 30% of an alcohol, 3% to 30% of an oil, 0% to 20% of a salt, and balance of water. The composition of the invention is low in concentration, low in cost, narrow in particle size distribution, good in stability, simple in preparation, and convenient for storage and use.

Abstract: Aminofunctional silicone compositions are disclosed comprising: an organopolysiloxane having an average formula of (CH3)3SiO[(CH3)2SiO]x [(CH3)RNSiO]ySi(CH3)3 with less than 1 weight % of nitrogen in its formula, where RN is an aminofunctional group, x is ≥100, y is ≥1 with the proviso the sum of x+y is from 250 to 350; wherein the viscosity of the silicone composition ranges from 1000 to 2500 cP at 25° C. and is measured by a Brookfield RV DV viscometer equipped with Pro CP 52 spindle at 20 RPM; and the aminofunctional silicone composition contains less than 0.1 weight % of D4 and less than 0.1 weight % D5 cyclic siloxanes.

Abstract: The instant invention provides a coating composition, a process of making a coating composition, a coated article, and a method of forming such articles.The coating composition according to the present invention comprises a dispersion comprising: (a) a core comprising a base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell.The process for making a coating composition according to the present invention comprises the steps of: (1) selecting a base polymer; (2) selecting a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; (3) selecting one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers; (4) melt-blending said base polymer, said polar polymeric stabilizing agent, and said one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers; (4) contacting said melt-blended base polymer, polar polymeric stabilizing agent and one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers with water and optionally in the presence of a neutralizing agent; (5) thereby forming said dispersion comprising: (a) a core comprising said base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising said polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) said one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell.The coated article according to the present invention comprises: a substrate comprising cellulose base material; and a dispersion on at least one surface of said substrate, wherein said dispersion comprises: (a) a core comprising a base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell.The method of making a coated article according to the present invention comprises the steps of: (1) providing a substrate comprising cellulose base material (2) providing a coating composition comprising a dispersion comprising: (a) a core comprising a base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell; (3) applying said coating composition to at least one surface of said substrate; and (4) thereby making said coated article.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for producing a hydrogel comprising the following steps in succession: a first step (i) of providing at least one powder of an anionic polymer (A) and at least one chitosan powder (B) comprising amine functions (—NH2); a second step (ii) consisting in dry mixing at least the powders (A) and (B) from the first step in order to form a mixture of powders; a third step (iii) of suspending the mixture of powders obtained from the second step in an aqueous medium having a pH that can enable the anionic polymer (A) to be dissolved without dissolving the chitosan (B); a fourth step (iv) of adding an acid to the suspension obtained from the third step in order to form the hydrogel; or the third (iii) and fourth (iv) steps are replaced by a mixing fifth step (v), comprising mixing an acidified aqueous medium including at least one compound (C) comprising at least one unit of a hexose or a unit derived from a hexose, and/or at least one phosphate of said compound (C), with said mixture comprising at least the powders (A) and (B) obtained from the second step (ii).

Abstract: An aqueous dispersion contains pigment colorant particles (of various types of materials) at 5 weight % and up to and including 80 weight %; a dispersing polymer that is prepared from the Diels Alder adduct of 3-maleimidopropionic acid and furfuryl (meth)acrylate; and an aqueous medium. The weight ratio of the pigment colorant particles to the dispersing polymer is from 19:1 to and including 2:1. This aqueous dispersion can be incorporated into an aqueous inkjet ink composition that can be used in various inkjet printing methods to provide opaque images particularly when titanium dioxide particles are used as the pigment colorant.

Abstract: Provided herein are aqueous dispersions. The aqueous dispersions can comprise a first copolymer derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and a second carboxy-functional copolymer derived from one or more carboxylic acid-containing monomers. The aqueous dispersions can be used to prepare low- or zero-VOC aqueous coating compositions that possess desirable properties, including good block resistance and scrub resistance. Coatings and coating formulations comprising the aqueous dispersion, as well as methods of making and using the same are also provided.
