Abstract: An injector, for injecting a fluidic sample into a flow path between a fluid drive and a sample separation unit, includes a sample accommodation volume, a sample drive, and a fluidic valve switchable to selectively couple the volume with the flow path or decouple the volume from the flow path. In an injection switching state, the fluid drive, the separation unit and the sample drive are coupled by the valve so that fluid driven by the sample drive and flowing from the volume to the separation unit and further fluid driven by the fluid drive and flowing from the fluid drive to the separation unit are combined at a fluidic connection upstream of the separation unit. A control unit controls a pressure of the fluid and/or the further fluid during injecting.

Abstract: A microfluidic apparatus for forming one or more droplets of an aqueous fluid suspended in a non-aqueous fluid is described. The microfluidic apparatus includes a first microfluidic channel configured for flowing an aqueous fluid through the first microfluidic channel and a second microfluidic channel fluidically connected to the first microfluidic channel and adapted to flow a non-aqueous fluid through the second microfluidic channel into the first microfluidic channel. The microfluidic apparatus further includes a first electrode and a second electrode positioned such that application of voltage to the first electrode moves one or more droplets of the aqueous fluid in a first direction and application of voltage to the second electrode moves one or more droplets of the aqueous fluid in a second direction.

Abstract: A multi-dimensional liquid chromatography system includes first and second liquid chromatography systems. The first system is configured for providing a first chromatographic separation of a sample fluid comprised in a first mobile phase and to provide a first effluent including at least a portion of the separated sample fluid. The second system is configured for providing a second chromatographic separation of at least a portion of the first effluent comprised in a second mobile phase. A control unit is configured to operate the first liquid chromatography system by maintaining a first flow rate of the first mobile phase substantially constant during the first chromatographic separation, and to operate the second liquid chromatography system during the second chromatographic separation according to a control value different from the second flow rate, so that a variation in the control value can lead to a variation in the second flow rate.

Abstract: Compounds and methods for purifying oligonucleotides such as RNA and DNA. A target oligonucleotide is reacted with an orthoester linker comprising an affinity tag to form an orthoester oligonucleotide-orthoester linker conjugate which is subjected to a purification technique to separate the target oligonucleotide from impurities such as truncated oligonucleotides. The orthoester linker can be then removed under mild conditions to generate the target oligonucleotide in high purity.
