Abstract:
An automated apparatus is provided for a more nearly uniform and efficient coating for portions of a human body, as for example, to provide more uniform coloring with artificial tanning compositions. The claims should be the guide for understanding of the scope of the invention to be protected, but the following comments may be of value in understanding the advantages that some applications of the claimed invention may provide. In one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a system for applying a composition, such as a tanning composition, to a human body located in a target area, for example in a booth. The system includes a spraying apparatus moveably mounted, wherein the spraying apparatus is movable in directions along at least two axes to selectively apply a composition to portions of the human body in the target area. In one preferred embodiment, the spraying apparatus includes one or more nozzles or spraying orifices mounted on a movable linkage. The movable linkage is articulated to move the nozzles along a path during the spraying process to track a profile of the user's body. In another feature of the preferred design, the system includes a mapping device for determining the posture and profile of the human body within the target area. This profile is preferably used to guide the spraying apparatus. The mapping device is preferably automatically responsive to determine the profile of the human body in the target area, but may alternately use a profile determined independently of the system. Related objects and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following figures and description of the preferred embodiments.
Abstract:
Improved external pressure circulatory assist device of the type which utilizes an electrocardiogram signal to facilitate synchronization of its pressure pulse with the heartbeat. The improvements include a more efficient and clinically suitable mechanical means to induce pressure variations in the legs of a patient, and an automatic control means to maintain the proper pressurization even during physiological changes in the limbs of the patient being treated, and control means to monitor and adjust the pressure wave to achieve the proper phasing of the pressure wave with the cardiac cycle during treatment of the patient.
Abstract:
Systems and methods described herein relate to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) devices and systems for securing the same to hands of users. The systems and methods herein provide for a CPR assistance device, such as a CPR puck, to be releasably coupled with the hand of a user using a securing device that may be releasably coupleable to the hand of the user and/or the CPR puck. The CPR puck includes a sensor to detect a compression of the body between the chest of the subject and the hand of the user. The systems enable low-cost solutions to increase the effectiveness of CPR pucks during use and ease of use by rescuers.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a cervical traction pillow includes a cervical traction pillow main body and a massage device. The cervical traction pillow main body is a flexible cervical traction pillow main body with a narrow upper part and a wide lower part, so as to form a neck brace traction portion at an upper end and a base at a lower end, a first back portion connected between the neck brace traction portion and the base, and two first side portions opposite and connected to the neck brace traction portion, the base, and the back portion. The neck brace traction portion and a bottom surface of the base are connected in an acute angle. The massage device is arranged on the cervical traction pillow main body.
Abstract:
Technology is described for a tip device for a massage gun head. The device may include a removeable tip that interfaces with existing hard tips, tip with a tip body and a tip face. A support may be joined to the tip. An inner wall and end wall may be in the support and may form a void for receiving the massage gun head. The inner wall may have a smaller diameter than a massage gun head diameter. A channel may also be formed in the inner wall.
Abstract:
An apparatus massages an eyelid to move meibum unidirectionally through a meibomian gland duct toward a gland duct orifice at the eyelid margin in order to clear meibum blockage in the gland duct. The apparatus is configured to cyclically apply pressure to an application area of the eyelid, to move the applied pressure in a flow direction toward the gland duct orifice, and release the pressure applied to the application area of the eyelid. The apparatus includes an elongated massage arm configured to support a massage tip, which is configured to apply the pressure to the application area of the eyelid. A cam is rotatable about an axis of rotation and includes a cam surface. A follower includes a follower surface in sliding engagement with the cam surface. The follower is configured to impart massaging motion to the massage arm in response to rotation of the cam. The cam surface has a constant width curve configuration. The cam is configured so that a center of the cam surface is offset from the axis of rotation of the cam.
Abstract:
A body interface comprises a panel, and a lumbar support and may be configured to attach to an exoskeleton such as a leg/hip assist mechanism. The body interface has an adjustable tension provided by either a tensioning device or by the properties of materials in the panel and the lumbar support. Tension in the body interface allows the lumbar support to comfortably and dynamically contact a user's body while the panel cooperates with the leg/hip assist mechanism. First and second arms may extend from lateral portions of the panel to define with first and second belt members a circumference around the user.
Abstract:
A device for use by an individual varying in form, i.e. shape, during its use and allowing for the user to select multiple variations of form either discretely or in combination and for these dynamic variations to be controllable simultaneously and interchangeably while being transparent to the normal use of the device, including the ability to insert, withdraw, rotate, and actuate the variable features manually or remotely. According to embodiments of the invention localized and global variations of devices are implemented using fluidics and electromagnetic pumps/valves wherein a fluid is employed such that controlling the pressure of the fluid results in the movement of an element within the device or the expansion/contraction of an element within the device.
Abstract:
A device for providing a therapeutic stimulus to a subject is provided. The device may comprise a material, a network of flexible cells, at least one channel, and a working material. The material may be configured to cover a portion of the subject and may have an inner surface for engaging a surface of the subject and an exterior surface facing away from the surface of the subject. The network of flexible cells may be coupled to the material and each flexible cell may have an internal cavity. The working material may be disposed within the internal cavities of the flexible cells. The at least one channel may be arranged to allow exchange of the working material between flexible cells due to application of force upon the network from movement of the surface of the subject.
