Abstract:
A polymer composition containing a polyarylene sulfide, a disulfide compound, and inorganic fibers is provided. The polymer composition has an aspect ratio of from about 1.5 to about 10, wherein the aspect ratio is defined as the cross-sectional width of the fibers divided by the cross-sectional thickness of the fibers.
Abstract:
Thermally conductive polymer compositions comprising polymer, highly moisture resistant magnesium oxide, and filler having higher aspect ratio than 5. The compositions are particularly useful for metal/polymer hybrid parts.
Abstract:
Anhydrite calcium sulfate whiskers are prepared by combining alpha calcium sulfate hemihydrate and water to form a slurry, autoclaving the slurry to form alpha calcium sulfate hemihydrate whiskers in water, dewatering the alpha calcium sulfate hemihydrate whiskers, and heating the alpha calcium sulfate hemihydrate whiskers to form anhydrite calcium sulfate whiskers. A composite includes alpha-derived anhydrite calcium sulfate whiskers and a base material and is prepared by combining alpha-derived anhydrite calcium sulfate whiskers with a base material to form a composite.

Provided is a carbon fiber reinforced plastic material having excellent rigidity, flexibility and improved heat resistance and a method of manufacturing the same. The present invention provides a carbon fiber reinforced plastic material containing 2 parts by mass or more and 30 parts by mass or less of a nanofiller with respect to a total of 100 parts by mass of 30 parts by mass or more and 90 parts by mass or less of a polymer material and 70 parts by mass or more and 10 parts by mass or less of carbon fibers, an average aspect ratio (length/width) of the nanofiller being 20 or more. The average aspect ratio (length/width) of the nanofiller may also be 50 or more.
Abstract:
An anisotropic conductive film includes: an insulation region having a planer shape and containing an insulating filler at a first content rate; and a plurality of conductive particle holding regions arranged in the insulation region, the conductive particle holding regions holding conductive particles and containing the insulating filler at a second content rate lower than the first content rate, the conductive particle holding regions being arranged discretely in a planar direction of the insulation region. A method of making conductive connection between a first terminal arranged on a first member and a second terminal arranged on a second member includes: preliminarily tacking the anisotropic conductive film to the first member; holding the first and second members such that the first and second terminals face to each other across the preliminarily tacked anisotropic conductive film; pressing the first and second members to each other; and heating the anisotropic conductive film.

[OBJECT]To provide a piston ring which, when used in a high-output engine, can sustain an excellent effect of suppressing aluminum adhesion, over a long period.[SOLUTION MEANS]Either or both the upper and lower sides of the piston ring are covered with a resin-based film containing a fibrous filler with a mean fiber diameter of 50 to 500 nm and an aspect ratio of 30 to 500. The fibrous filler content is 0.5 to 10 vol % with respect to the total resin-based film. Also, the fibrous filler used is at least one type from among carbon fibers, silica fibers and boron nitride fibers.
Abstract:
A composition comprising a fluid, and a material dispersed in the fluid, the material made up of particles having a complex three dimensional surface area such as a sharp blade-like surface, the particles having an aspect ratio larger than 0.7 for promoting kinetic boundary layer mixing in a non-linear-viscosity zone. The composition may further include an additive dispersed in the fluid. The fluid may be a thermopolymer material. A method of extruding the fluid includes feeding the fluid into an extruder, feeding additives into the extruder, feeding a material into the extruder, passing the material through a mixing zone in the extruder to disperse the material within the fluid wherein the material migrates to a boundary layer of the fluid to promote kinetic mixing of the additives within the fluid, the kinetic mixing taking place in a non-linear viscosity zone.
