Abstract: A scanning laser projector includes an optical module with a housing defined by a top surface, a bottom surface, and sidewalls extending between the top surface and bottom surface to define an interior compartment within the housing. A given one of the sidewalls has an exit window defined therein. A first light detector is positioned at an interior surface of the given one of the sidewalls about a periphery of the exit window. A second light detector positioned at the interior surface of the given one of the sidewalls about the periphery of the exit window and on a different side thereof than the first light detector.

In one aspect, the stray-light testing station includes an illumination assembly including a spatially extended light source and one or more optical elements arranged to direct a beam of light from the spatially extended light source along an optical path to an optical receiver assembly including a lens receptacle configured to receive a lens module and position the lens module in the optical path downstream from the parabolic mirror so that the lens module focuses the beam of light from the spatially extended light source to an image plane, and a moveable frame supporting the optical receiver assembly including one or more adjustable alignment stages to position the optical receiver assembly relative to the illumination assembly such that the optical path of the illumination assembly is within a field of view of the optical receiver assembly.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an integrated photonics device including a frequency stabilization subsystem for monitoring and/or adjusting the wavelength of light emitted by one or more light sources. The device can include one or more selectors that can combine, select, and/or filter light along one or more light paths, which can include light emitted by a plurality of light sources. Example selectors may include, but are not limited to, an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG), a ring resonator, a plurality of distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs), a plurality of filters, and the like. Output light paths from the selector(s) can be input into one or more detector(s). The detector(s) can receive the light along the light paths and can generate one or more signals as output signal(s) from the frequency stabilization subsystem. A controller can monitor the wavelength and can adjust or generate control signal(s) for the one or more light sources to lock the monitored wavelength to a target wavelength (or within a targeted range of wavelengths).

Abstract: A photoelectric sensor capable of preventing a malfunction caused by mutual interference is provided. The photoelectric sensor includes: a light projecting unit that repetitively emits a set of pulse light, which follows a projected light pattern in which a light projecting period is made different by a fixed time, as signal light; a light receiving element that receives the signal light; and a light receiving controller that distinguishes a light incident state and a light blocked state based on a received light signal from the light receiving element. The light projecting unit has a first pattern having the light projecting period increased by a fixed time and a second pattern having the light projecting period reduced by a fixed time as the projected light pattern, and in the first and second patterns, a pulse indicating a shortest period is included in the light projecting period other than the shortest period.

A programmable filter having a variable passband for light transmission is placed in front of the fixed filter. A controllable voltage source controls a voltage at the programmable filter that shifts the passband of the programmable filter from a first state in which the passband of the programmable filter is substantially the same as the passband of the fixed filter and a second state in which the passband of the programmable filter is different than the passband of the fixed filter.

Abstract: The present application discloses a UV radiation monitoring apparatus, method, and system. The monitoring apparatus includes a case, an authenticator disposed on the case and configured to identify a user, a controller in the case coupled to the authenticator to enable a first mode for an authenticated user, a detector on the case coupled to the controller and configured to measure an intensity of ultraviolet radiation and generate ultraviolet index (UVI) value at the present time, a memory coupled to the controller and configured to store the UVI values over an exposure time added into historical UVI data for the authenticated user, and a display unit to display the UVI value at the present time and the personal health instructions on UV protection for the authenticated user. The monitoring apparatus further is configured to be paired with a mobile terminal for providing updated personal health instructions.
