Abstract:
An apparatus to apply seasoning to a foodstuff comprising a plurality of individual food portions comprises a rotatable drum supportable in a generally horizontal position and having an inlet at a first end, an outlet at a second end and a bore extending through the drum from the inlet to the outlet, with a substantial portion of the bore having a generally frustoconical interior with a larger diameter end of the frustoconical interior disposed proximal to the inlet and a smaller diameter end of the frustoconical interior portion disposed proximal to the outlet. In one embodiment, the frustoconical interior portion extends substantially from the inlet to the outlet and converges in that direction. In another embodiment, the generally frustoconical portion extends from a generally cylindrical interior portion, that is intermediate the inlet and the frustoconical interior portion, to the outlet and converges in that direction.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to foamed binders for wood strand products and methods and systems for producing wood strand products using foamed binders. In some embodiments, the disclosure includes a method for producing a wood strand product from cellulosic particles, the method comprising the steps of foaming a phenol formaldehyde binder to produce a foam, tumbling the cellulosic particles in a rotary blender, applying the foam to the cellulosic particles in the rotary blender, blending the cellulosic particles and the foam so that the foam covers the cellulosic particles, and consolidating the cellulosic particles under heat and pressure.
Abstract:
In a pan coating apparatus including a rotary drum which rotates about a horizontal rotation axis, an air supply chamber having a larger sectional area than that of an opening portion is arranged on a front stage with respect to the front-surface opening portion of the rotary drum. The air supply chamber is formed in a chamber door attached to a front of a casing, and has one end side communicating to the opening portion and another end side connected to an air supply duct via an air supply hole. The air flowing into the air supply chamber from the air supply duct is reduced in flow rate in the air supply chamber and supplied from the opening portion into the rotary drum with the air flow thereof in a stable state.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to apparatus and methods for contacting gas and solids in the manufacture of edibles, and particularly in connection with coating edible particulate solids. A drum is positioned around an inner tube so that an annular space is defined between the drum and the tube. A rotatable spiral element defines a gas pathway in the annular space, such that rotation of the spiral pushes particulate solids through the drum while the solids are contacted with gas in the annular space.

In a pan coating apparatus (10) including a rotary drum (1) which rotates about a horizontal rotation axis (O), an air supply chamber (13) having a larger sectional area than that of an opening portion (7) is arranged on a front stage with respect to the front-surface opening portion (7) of the rotary drum. The air supply chamber (13) is formed in a chamber door (11) attached to a front of a casing (2), and has one end side communicating to the opening portion (7) and another end side connected to an air supply duct (19) via an air supply hole (18). The air flowing into the air supply chamber (13) from the air supply duct (19) is reduced in flow rate in the air supply chamber (13) and supplied from the opening portion (7) into the rotary drum (1) with the air flow thereof in a stable state.

Abstract:
In a method for forming an adhesive layer on the surface of a workpiece before the formation of a coating film containing a powder on the workpiece, the present invention provides a method for forming the adhesive layer having a desired thickness. This object is achieved by the following method: An adhesive layer formation medium m1 coated with an adhesive material is made to collide with a workpiece W so that the adhesive material is transferred from the adhesive layer formation medium m1 to the workpiece W and forms an adhesive layer on the workpiece. An adhesive layer having a desired thickness can be formed on the workpiece by regulating the thickness of the adhesive material applied to the surface of the adhesive layer formation medium (i.e. the amount of the adhesive material held by a single adhesive layer formation medium). This enables the thickness of the powder coating as the final product to be controlled as desired.
Abstract:
A dip-spin coating apparatus and method is described. A disk is partially immersed into a coating liquid and rotated while the disk is maintained in a substantially vertical plane. Once the disk is coated, the disk is removed from the coating liquid where excess material is spun off at a higher rotational speed while the disk is maintained in the vertical plane.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for depositing a surface coating on cores. The inventive device comprises a rotationally mounted drum for accommodating the cores, at least one spraying nozzle for depositing the surface material on the cores, a heating device for the inner space of the drum, an inlet and an outlet, and carriers which are provided for the cores and which are arranged inside said drum. The invention provides that the drum is designed as a longish cylinder and that second carriers are provided for the cores (11, 12). The second carriers transport the cores opposite the first carriers and are arranged such that they can be radially displaced in relation to the first carriers. The invention also provides that the drum is held in the device so that it can be quickly removed.
Abstract:
Objects molded of synthetic resin such as slide fastener sliders are dyed with a dye liquor having a bath ratio appropriate for an actual amount of dyestuff to be applied to the objects which has been determined from the outer surface area of the objects and the thickness of a dye layer to be formed thereon. The dye liquor is brought into contact with the objects while the dye liquor is being supplied in circulation through a dyeing tank or contained together with the objects in the dyeing tank.
