Abstract:
A spherical plain bearing for a ball-and-socket joint includes a plain bearing shell. The plain bearing shell comprises a sliding layer containing a sliding material, at least one dimensionally stable support layer, and at least one elastic layer.
Abstract:
In a slide structure, a support structure and a seismically isolated structure, a first sliding surface (25) of a sliding member (21) is formed of a sliding body (24) made of synthetic resin. A film (27) made of synthetic resin and having a Young's modulus more than twice as large as that of the first sliding surface (25) is formed on the second sliding surface (28) of the counter member (22). At the same time, fine irregularities having a maximum height Rz of 3 μm or higher are formed on the surface of the film (27). As a result, the lubricant is trapped in small pits of the irregularities to prevent the lubricant from flowing out, and a stable low friction state can be maintained.
Abstract:
A method of forming a corrosion resistant bushing includes bonding a sliding layer to a first surface of a load bearing substrate to form a laminate sheet and cutting a blank from the laminate sheet. The laminate sheet includes an exposed surface corresponding to a second surface of the load bearing substrate. The blank includes cut edges having a load bearing substrate portion. The method further includes forming a semi-finished bushing from the blank, and applying a corrosion resistant coating to the exposed surface and the load bearing substrate portion of the cut edges to form the corrosion resistant bushing.
Abstract:
There is provided a sliding member formed by combining a resin overlay and a soft metal overlay. The sliding member has a soft layer comprising a metallic material with a hardness of less than 40 HV provided under a resin overlay layer comprising a solid lubricant and resin. In the event of contamination by a foreign matter, the soft layer under the resin overlay layer is capable of plastic deformation and the resin overlay layer is capable of partial deformation accompanying the plastic deformation due to the hardness (T1) (μm) of the soft layer and the hardness (T2) (μm) of the resin overlay layer being such that 0.2≦T1/T2≦7.0 and 3.0≦T1≦20.0. Consequently, a foreign matter is desirably embedded and resistance to a foreign matter can be improved. Low friction is maintained by the resin overlay layer even after contamination by a foreign matter.
Abstract:
A bearing comprises a resin matrix filled with fluoropolymer, graphite, and other discrete particles of an additive material that is attached to a backing material. The specific selection and mix of fillers with the resin matrix provides the desired blend of bearing properties such as wear resistance, fatigue and erosion resistance and low friction whilst maintaining sufficient flexibility for being formed into flanged cylindrical geometries without detriment to the adherence of the lining to the backing. A method for manufacturing a bearing comprises depositing to a backing material a fluid polymer bearing material comprised of a resin matrix filled with fluoropolymer, various fillers, and discrete particles of an additive to form a continuous consolidated bearing material, and curing the lining material to bond the lining material onto the backing material.
Abstract:
A reinforcing underlayment including dry uniform particles evenly applied to a wet bonding material layer on a surface of a substrate. The substrate, including the layers, is then cured to harden the one or more of the layers. A final coating or topcoat is applied to the cured surface of the substrate. The dry particles are evenly distributed onto the bonding material layer creating a uniform surface for subsequent coatings. The dry particles increase the strength of the liquid coatings increasing solid particle density within the coating system and thereby imparting properties not available for the liquid coatings. The present invention enables a user to easily introduce very heavy, dense, strong particles into a liquid coating and allows the user to apply very dense, heavy particles into and onto a wet bonding material layer followed by a subsequent wet topcoat layer which is cured as one contiguous material with reinforcement and underlayment strengthening coming from the added, dry particles.

A wear resistant lubricious composite includes a synthetic resin binder, a plurality of transfer film forming particles, and a plurality of hard nanoparticles. The hard nanoparticles are selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal carbides and metal nitride nanoparticles. A method of forming wear resistant lubricious composite articles includes the steps of providing a liquid phase synthetic resin precursor, adding a plurality of transfer film forming particles and a plurality of hard nanoparticles selected from the group consisting of metal oxide, metal carbide and metal nitride nanoparticles to the resin precursor to form a mixture, adding a hardener to the mixture, and curing the mixture.
Abstract:
A self-aligning track roller bearing includes an inner member having a central axis and a convex surface and an outer member has a concave surface and is angularly displaceable relative to the central axis. A lubricious liner is positioned between the convex surface and the concave surface. The lubricious liner creates a force resisting movement of the inner member relative to the outer member. The bearing includes a snubber engaging an axially facing surface of the outer member and another snubber engaging another axially facing surface of the outer member. Outer rings are coupled to opposing axially facing surfaces of the inner member to retain the snubbers in engagement therewith. One or more of the snubbers are elastically deformable in response to angular displacement of the outer member and have a resilience set to overcome the force and urge the outer member to be concentric with the central axis.
