Abstract: A plurality of completion times associated with an application request may be obtained. The plurality of completion times may include a first completion time and a second completion time. A plurality of response times associated with a first asynchronous operation triggered by the application request may be obtained. The plurality of completion times may include a first response time associated with the first completion time and a second response time associated with the second completion time. A first correlation score may be determined describing an effect of the first asynchronous operation on the application request based on the first completion time, the second completion time, the first response time, and the second response time. Visualization data may be generated representing the first correlation score.

Abstract: A data analysis system processes data generated by instrumented software. The data analysis system receives data streams generated by instances of instrumented software executing on systems. The data analysis system also receives metadata describing data streams. The data analysis system receives an expression based on the metadata. The data analysis system receives data of data streams for each time interval and computes the result of the expression based on the received data values. The data analysis system repeats these steps for each time interval. The data analysis system may quantize data values of data streams for each time interval by generating an aggregate value for the time interval based on data received for each data stream for that time interval. The data analysis system evaluates the expression using the quantized data for the time interval.

Abstract: Tools and techniques for collecting data from target systems without the need for installation of expensive and high-maintenance software agents on the target systems. In some cases, these tools can be used to collect performance data from collection targets while still allowing the operator(s) of the collection targets to govern the access of the tools, alleviating security concerns. Merely by way of example, certain tools employ data collection scripts, which may be analyzed by the collection target against security policies of that collection target, to ensure that the scripts will not take any actions that might violate such security policies. Other tools may be used to collect data in real time by transmitting a script for immediate execution by the host system, which could then return the data produced by the script immediately upon completion (and/or as part of execution of the script).

Abstract: Application management based on data correlations is disclosed. One example is a system including a data processor, a data element generator, a matrix generator, a data analysis module, a performance module, and a load test manager. The data processor accesses test data based on an application under load testing. The data element generator generates a plurality of transactional data elements based on the test data, each data element comprising at least three data components. The matrix generator generates a covariance matrix based on the data components. The data analysis module determines an eigenvector associated with the covariance matrix, and identifies a correlation between a sub-plurality of the at least three data components based on coefficients of the eigenvector. The performance module determines, based on the correlation, performance metrics for the application under load testing. The load test manager manages, based on the performance metrics, the application under load testing.

Abstract: A monitoring system is arranged for automatically and dynamically discovering local applications running on servers in an enterprise-scale service environment as well as discovering external resources (both partitioned and non-partitioned resources) that the local applications use. The discovered objects and their dependencies are instantiated into a health map and the map is dynamically updated as applications and resources are added to and deleted from the enterprise-scale service environment. Health indicators such as events, performance counters, synthetic transactions, and SysLog and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) service events for the mapped objects are monitored. The monitored health indicators are attributed to either the health of a local application or that of an external resource. Upon detection of a fault, the health map enables performance of root cause analyses and determination of the impact of the fault on the objects in the environment so that appropriate alerts can be raised.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing green software applications and/or certifying software applications with a green applications efficiency (“GAE”) rating. Implementing green software applications might include performing performance tests of a software application, measuring power consumption of one or more hardware components, in response to execution of the software application during the one or more performance tests, generating a power consumption profile for the software application based on the measure power consumption, and tuning the software application such that power consumption of the one or more hardware components matches a power load caused by execution of the software application, based at least in part on the power consumption profile for the software application. Certifying software applications might include calculating an efficiency rating based on measured or calculated hardware power consumption, calculating the GAE rating for the software application, and certifying the software application with the GAE rating.
