Abstract:
A base station controller selects codes corresponding to rate information included in a new starting call message from a mobile station, and further selects codes assignable to the mobile station out of the selected codes as candidate codes. Then, the base station controller detects codes which meet both the characteristics of being at upper level of the candidate codes in the tree structure and being assignable to other mobile station, and further detects levels of the detected codes. Detected levels for all the candidate codes are compared to find a candidate code whose level is the lowest and to assign the candidate code to the mobile station sending the new starting call message.
Abstract:
A modified adaptive minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver detects a spread spectrum signal, minimizing interference among multiple users. The receiver receives multiple pilot bits and corresponding data bits. A channel is estimated using at least one of the received pilot bits and, simultaneously, the data bits are detected based on the pilot bit and an inverse of a gain of the receiver. The spectrum signal may be spread in accordance with a wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) format, in which the pilot bits are modified to include a predetermined bit sequence of alternating ones and negative ones.
Abstract:
A plurality of data streams are convolutionally encoded. Each convolutionally encoded data stream has a particular data rate. The particular data rate of each data stream is adjusted so that an adjusted data rate of that data stream matches a data rate of a CDMA transmission. When the particular data rate of one of the data streams is below the data rate of the CDMA transmission, data of the one data stream is repeated to match the data rate of the CDMA transmission. The adjusted data rate data streams is transmitted as the CDMA transmission. The adjusted data streams are transmitted together in the CDMA transmission and the CDMA transmission is quadrature modulated.

Abstract:
Code synchronization is acquired as a part of receiving and decoding a spread spectrum transmission. There are received a number of signal samples that constitute a signal sample sequence. It represents a length of a received signal spread with one full length of a pseudorandom sequence used as a spreading code. The signal sample sequence is augmented at least at one end with at least one additional symbol, which produces a padded signal sample sequence. The padded signal sample sequence is in turn correlated with a locally produced sample sequence that comprises code samples representing a known form of said spreading code. The result of said correlating is used as a basis for acquired code synchronization.
Abstract:
In a compressed mode, a spread spectrum communication device interleaves bit units across multiple frames using an interleaver, reduces the spreading factor using a framing/spreading unit, outputs the compressed mode frames at a predetermined compressed mode frame timing, and increases the average transmission power in the compressed mode at a radio frequency transmitter. Furthermore, a handover between different frequencies is carried out by establishing synchronization to another frequency carrier, based on a first search code and a second search code which have been detected, and moreover, a handover between different communication systems is carried out by establishing synchronization to a GSM, based on an FCCH and a SCH which have been detected.
Abstract:
A spreading system and method for CDMA applications that requires fewer integer multiplications. User data is spread using real or complex integer based spreading codes of length SF to SFmax chips. At least one of the codes is of the form jn·v[n] where v[n] is a spreading code. The invention provides increased user separation using a plurality of spreading codes.
Abstract:
A reverse data rate determining method in a mobile communication system for high data rate transmission such as an HDR system, wherein an AN (Access Network) within a cell calculates a total load of a reverse link by measuring a total energy of a reverse link from ATs (Access Terminals) within the cell. The AN calculates the share of each AT in the total reverse link load. If the load share of an AT is greater than a threshold predetermined individually for the AT, the AN determines that the AT should reduce its data rate.
Abstract:
In an information transmission method, a radio communications system, a base station and a mobile station, a TBS size, a modulation scheme and the number of codes in a multicode are converted into identification data having a relatively smaller data size before being transmitted to a destination of communication. The TBS size is identified by using, in combination, an identification code identifying a channelization code set, an identification code identifying a modulation scheme, and an identification code obtained by converting a combination of the number of codes in a multicode and a modulation pattern identification (TFRC) into a corresponding code. Accordingly, the data size for TBS size identification is reduced.
