Abstract:
Workpieces, which are conveyed by a conveying device along a conveying path, are heated by a heating and degreasing coil. Then, resin powder is downwardly sprayed from a nozzle of a coating device to each corresponding one of the workpieces, which are conveyed by the conveying device. The workpieces are thereafter heated by a heating and curing coil. At each of the heating coils, a dummy member, which is made of an electrically conductive material, is displaced from a retracted position to a forward position, which is located between the corresponding heating coil and a corresponding adjacent part of the conveying path of the conveying device, when an empty one of mount locations of the conveying device reaches the forward position of the dummy member.
Abstract:
The invention relates to patches and methods for manufacturing patches intended for skin application of a substance wherein the patch includes a conductive support, and a liquid formulation of the substance is deposited on the support of the patch by electrohydrodynamic spraying.
Abstract:
An electrospraying apparatus and/or method is used to coat particles. For example, a flow including at least one liquid suspension may be provided through at least one opening at a spray dispenser end. The flow includes at least particles and a coating material. A spray of microdroplets suspending at least the particles is established forward of the spray dispenser end by creating a nonuniform electrical field between the spray dispenser end and an electrode electrically isolated therefrom. The particles are coated with at least a portion of the coating material as the microdroplet evaporates. For example, the suspension may include biological material particles.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to an apparatus for electrostatically adhering grains to a planar substrate comprising: a. an electrostatic chuck having a collection surface with at least one grain collection zone for, when the planar substrate is layered on the collection surface, electrostatically directing charged grains to a corresponding surface on the planar substrate; and b. a pattern of holes through the electrostatic chuck allowing a source of low pressure to act through the electrostatic chuck to adhere the planar substrate.
Abstract:
The machine for the horizontal painting with powdered paints, of three-dimensional and mainly flat wood products or its by-products, comprises a horizontal and motorised conveyor (1) upon which are resting the products to be painted which by suitable means are referred to an electric potential having a predetermined sign and which by the same conveyor are driven to pass through at least one chamber (11) connected to suction means which maintain the same in depression with respect to the external environment, because in said chamber are delivered by suitable means the powdered paints electrostatically charged with electric charges having an opposite sign to the one of the products, to strictly adhere to the same products. The whole is effected in such a manner that the particles of powder do not exit from the inlet and outlet mouths or doors of said chamber because of the suction effected by said suction means. The delivery means of the electrostatically charged painting powders, are placed at least at one or both of the doors of the said chamber (11), so that are continuously licked up by the depressurisation airflow of the same painting chamber, which prevents the deposit upon said means of powdered paint and which therefore maintains said means always perfectly clean.
Abstract:
A functional mammalian growth factor receptor/yeast histidine kinase chimera in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In a preferred embodiment, the extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor has been fused to the intracellular kinase domain of the SLN1 gene. The SLN1 gene encodes the plasma membrane sensor kinase of the yeast high osmolarity/glycerol response MAP kinase pathway. The chimeric protein is almost completely nonfunctional because the EGFR ECD is not capable of dimerization in the absence of ligand. In the presence of ligand, however, the chimeric kinase is activated and phosphorylation through the pathway is quantitatively repressed. This measure of pathway activity can be utilized to identify agonists and antagonists of the EGFR and other tyrosine kinase growth factor receptors in yeast cells.
Abstract:
A method of introducing biological material into cells includes providing one or more target cells and establishing a spray of substantially dispersed particles including biological material. The substantially dispersed particles have an electrical charge applied thereto such that one or,more of the substantially dispersed particles of the spray is introduced into one or more of the target cells. The spray of substantially dispersed particles may be established by dispensing a spray of microdroplets suspending particles. The electrical charge is concentrated on the suspended particles as the microdroplet evaporates. The suspended particles may include carrier particles with biological material or the suspended particles may be particles of biological material alone. The space charge effect of the concentrated electrical charge on the substantially dispersed particles of the spray enable one or more of the particles to be introduced into one or more of the target cells. An apparatus for introducing biological material into one or more target cells includes a biological material source including at least biological material and a dispensing device operably connected to the biological material source to receive biological material therefrom. The dispensing device provides a spray of substantially dispersed particles of at least the biological material with the spray of substantially dispersed particles having an electrical charge applied thereto.

Abstract:
A conveyor device for applying a high voltage to a work transported in a coating booth includes a conveyor device main body having a running base running in the coating booth and an electrode attachment attached to the running base being insulated therefrom for carrying the work and applying a high voltage to the work, an electromagnetic wave transmitter disposed in the coating booth for transmitting electromagnetic waves to the running base during running in a high voltage application zone and a low voltage generator means for receiving electromagnetic waves from the electromagnetic transmitter means and a high voltage generator for stepping-up a low voltage outputted from the low voltage generator and supplying a high voltage to the electrode attachment, mounted on the running base.
Abstract:
A powder coating line for coating either coiled strip or pre-sheared and punched blanks is provided. In order to coat strip a catenary portion of the strip is suspended through a powder coating subsystem which includes a powder coating booth and a curing oven. The coated strip is the recoiled onto a rewind reel. In the alternative, the strip may be stopped and sheared at an input region and presheared blanks introduced to the powder coating subsystem. The blanks are placed on a belt conveyor, which transports them into the powder coating booth. The blanks are then passed in a conveyor through the powder coating booth and over for subsequent restacking. After passing out of the oven, and before coiled or stacking occurs, the strip or blanks pass through a quench and an air dryer. The powder coating subsystem can be incorporated into a larger pre-treating, cleaning, embossing or post-processing line.
