Abstract: A steel cable includes steel wires and at least one light wave guide which is surrounded by the steel wires and provided for detecting load-dependent cable strains, and has a glass fiber surrounded by a plastic casing. At least the steel wires closest to the light wave guide are crimped with the light wave guide and permanently pressed against the casing surface thereof, whereby the cross-sectional shape of the casing surface of the light wave guide deviates from an unloaded shape, in particular a circular shape, and the light wave guide is clamped continuously along at least one part of the longitudinal extension thereof, in a slip-free manner between the steel wires closest to same. A method produces a steel cable of this type.

Abstract: Hybrid rope (20) comprising a core element (22) containing high modulus fibers surrounded by at least one outer layer (24) containing wirelike metallic members (26). The core element (22) is coated (23) with a thermoplastic polyurethane or a copolyester elastomer, preferably the copolyester elastomer containing soft blocks in the range of 10 to 70 wt %. The coated material (23) on the inner core element (22) is inhibited to be pressed out in-between the wirelike members (26) of the hybrid rope (20) and the hybrid rope (20) has decreased elongation and diameter reduction after being in use.

Abstract: The invention pertains to the production of cables and can be used for reinforcing single-block constructions and other articles made of concrete. The purpose of the invention is to create a self-rectifying reinforcing member. The reinforcement cable comprises a central wire and layer-forming wires spirally wound around the same and having a periodical profile. A periodical profile is applied on the outer section of the surface of the layer-forming wires and is made in the form of inclined protrusions above the generatrix of the crimped surface of the cable. The sections of the surface of the layer-forming wires in contact with other wires are made in the form of spirally-arranged planar flats.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a wire rope having a blackened finish designed for theatrical productions. The wire rope includes a plurality of strands that have a closed spiral arrangement with each other and are compacted. Each strand includes a center wire spirally surrounded by a plurality of inner wires that are spirally surrounded by a plurality of outer wires so that the outer wires completely encompass the inner wires. The center wire and the inner wires are made from a galvanized material and coated with a lubricant. The outer wires are made from a non-coated steel material. Each strand is compacted so the outer wires create a tight mechanical seal to protect the inner wires. The blackened finish on the wire rope is due to a black oxide coating treatment and provides for low visibility of the wire rope during theatrical performances.

Since the cross sectional length of the steel cord 10 is greater than the minimum cross sectional length, interstices A are maintained between sheath filaments 14 under the tension and pressure p of the surrounding rubber 16 applied to the steel cord 10 during vulcanization. Rubber 16 penetrates into the steel cord 10 through the interstices A, and sufficiently adhere to core filaments 12 to achieve high rubber penetration.
