    Abstract: An imaging device, comprising: a pixel group in which unit pixels including a plurality of pixels receiving light fluxes having passed through different pupil areas of a photographing lens are provided in a form of a matrix; a plurality of types of color filters with different spectral transmittances provided in correspondence with the unit pixels; a microlens provided in correspondence with the color filter; a color information detection circuit which detects subject color information; and a pixel signal readout circuit which reads out a focus detection signal from the pixel group and reads out only a signal of the unit pixel in correspondence with a color filter associated with subject color information detected by the color information detection circuit.

    Abstract: A double-lens structure and a method for fabricating the same are provided. The double-lens structure includes a first lens structure formed of a color filter layer having a first refractive index and a second lens structure formed of a micro-lens material layer having a second refractive index and disposed on the first lens structure. The first refractive index of the color filter layer is different from the second refractive index of the micro-lens material layer. An incident light enters the second lens structure and then passes through the first lens structure. Further, a method for fabricating the double-lens structure is also provided.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a high-dynamic-range color image sensor includes (a) depositing a color filter layer on a silicon substrate having a photosensitive pixel array with a plurality of first pixels and a plurality of second pixels, to form (i) a plurality of first color filters above a first subset of each of the plurality of first pixels and the plurality of second pixels and (ii) a plurality of second color filters above a second subset of each of the plurality of first pixels and the plurality of second pixels, wherein thickness of the second color filters exceeds thickness of the first color filters, and (b) depositing, on the color filter layer, a dynamic-range extending layer including grey filters above the second pixels to attenuate light propagating toward the second pixels, combined thickness of the color filter layer and the dynamic-range extending layer being uniform across the photosensitive pixel array.

    Abstract: An electrowetting display comprises a support plate on which individual electrowetting pixels separated from one another by pixel walls are formed. Pixel walls including different layers are disposed on the first support plate and separate adjacent pixel regions from each other. The first layer of a pixel wall comprises a first material having a first color and a second layer of the pixel wall comprises a second material having a second color that is different from the first color. Instead of using black matrix to reduce photo crosstalk, the pixel walls of the different layers absorb light colors that are not intended to reach the respective pixels. A fluid is disposed between the first support plate and a second support plate and at least partially surrounds the first wall and the second wall.
