Abstract: Neural Normalized MinSum (N-NMS) decoding for improving frame error rate (FER) performance on linear block codes over conventional normalized MinSum (NMS). Dynamic multiplicative weights are assigned to each check-to-variable message in each iteration to efficiently provide training parameters of N-NMS that support N-NMS for longer block lengths. Embodiment are described for neural two-dimensional normalized MinSum (N-2D-NMS) decoders requiring fewer training parameters. The N-2D-NMS approaches for example use the same weight for edges with the same check and/or variable node degree. Simulation results indicate that that this LDPC decoding performs similarly to previous techniques while substantially reducing the amount of training necessary.

Abstract: Disclosed herein include novel blood-brain barrier (BBB)-crossing receptors on the BBB interface, targeting peptides and derivatives thereof capable of binding to the novel receptors, and related methods of using the receptors to increase the permeability of the BBB and to deliver an agent to a nervous system (e.g., CNS). Abstract: Systems and methods for driving and steering of a robot, or mobile vessel, for operation in a downhole pipe of an oil/gas/water well are presented. According to one aspect, the mobile vessel includes a plurality of wheels arranged outwardly from the mobile vessel so that each wheel may contact the inner wall of the casing. According to another aspect, the plurality of wheels may include respective wheel-centerlines that intersect the centerline of the casing that is at an offset from a centerline of the mobile vessel. The plurality of wheels includes at least two drive wheels and at least one passive wheel. According to a further aspect, the drive wheels are configured to rotate about their respective wheel-centerlines to steer the mobile vessel during traversal of the casing. In one case, the mobile vessel includes two drive and steering wheels and one passive wheel.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for facilitating an intramolecular reaction that occurs in single collisions of CO2 molecules (or their derivatives amenable to controllable acceleration, such as CO2+ ions) with a solid surface, such that molecular oxygen (or its relevant analogs, e.g., O2+ and O2− ions) is directly produced are provided. The reaction is driven by kinetic energy and is independent of surface composition and temperature. The methods and apparatus may be used to remove CO2 from Earth's atmosphere, while, in other embodiments, the methods and apparatus may be used to prevent the atmosphere's contamination with CO2 emissions. In yet other embodiments, the methods and apparatus may be used to obtain molecular oxygen in CO2-rich environments, such as to facilitate exploration of extraterrestrial bodies with CO2-rich atmospheres (e.g. Mars).

Abstract: Some implementations of the disclosure describe a blood pressure measurement apparatus and method that enable continuous, non-invasive blood pressure measurement using sound and ultrasound transducers. In one implementation, a blood pressure measurement device includes: a first transducer configured to emit multiple soundwaves having multiple frequencies, the soundwaves configured to cause a blood vessel of a subject to vibrate; a second transducer configured to capture one or more ultrasound images of the blood vessel; and a processing device configured to: determine, based on the one or more ultrasound images, a wall thickness, a radius, and a resonant frequency of the blood vessel; and calculate, based on the wall thickness, the radius, and the resonant frequency, a blood pressure of the subject.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to systems and methods for noninvasively performing cardiac auscultation. In some implementations, a method includes: performing, using a BP cuff of a BP cuff system, a blood pressure measurement of a subject to obtain one or more blood pressure values corresponding to the subject; inflating, based on the one or more blood pressure values corresponding to the subject, the BP cuff to a subject specific pressure value; capturing, using the BP cuff system, while the BP cuff is inflated to the subject specific pressure value, a pulse pressure waveform signal associated with an artery of the subject; obtaining a sound waveform signal associated with a heart valve of the subject by filtering the pulse pressure waveform signal to extract sound components associated with the opening or closing of the heart valve; and analyzing the sound waveform signal to identify characteristics of the heart of the subject.
