Abstract:
An apparatus (1) for assisting cardiopulmonary resuscitation by applying compression to the chest of a patient to stimulate blood circulation. The apparatus (1) comprises a pressurized gas container (70), preferably storing a gas in liquid form, a turbine (90), an electrical power generator (91) and a defibrillator (80). The turbine is actuated by the pressurized gas and adapted for powering the electric power generator (91), and the electric power generator (91) is adapted for energizing the defibrillator (80). The apparatus may further comprise a pneumatic compressor assembly (10) operably connected to the pressurized gas container (70).
Abstract:
An agility ladder has a plurality of rungs including first and second rungs. A left link assembly has ends pivotally attached to left ends of the first and second rungs, and a right link assembly has ends pivotally attached to right ends of the first and second rungs. The left and right link assemblies each include first and second links having equal lengths, with the first and second links joined at a link pivot joint which allows the first and second links to form an angle between them of less than 180 degrees.
Abstract:
A patient interface that provides breathable gas to a person has a face engaging cushion that includes an internal cavity. In the internal cavity fluid is located, and a control means that is capable of communicating with the fluid can incite change to a property or to properties of the fluid.
Abstract:
Described here are devices, systems, and methods for treating one or more conditions (such as dry eye) or improving ocular health by providing stimulation to nasal or sinus tissue. Generally, the devices may be handheld or implantable. In some variations, the handheld devices may have a stimulator body and a stimulator probe having one or more nasal insertion prongs. When the devices and systems are used to treat dry eye, nasal or sinus tissue may be stimulated to increase tear production, reduce the symptoms of dry eye, and/or improve ocular surface health.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for treating stretch marks through deep tissue tightening with ultrasound are provided. An exemplary method and system comprise a therapeutic ultrasound system configured for providing ultrasound treatment to a shallow tissue region, such as a region comprising an epidermis, a dermis and a deep dermis. In accordance with various exemplary embodiments, a therapeutic ultrasound system can be configured to achieve depth from 0 mm to 1 cm with a conformal selective deposition of ultrasound energy without damaging an intervening tissue in the range of frequencies from 2 to 50 MHz. In addition, a therapeutic ultrasound can also be configured in combination with ultrasound imaging or imaging/monitoring capabilities, either separately configured with imaging, therapy and monitoring systems or any level of integration thereof.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices used to treat eyelids, meibomian glands, ducts, and surrounding tissue are described herein. In some embodiments, an eye treatment device is disclosed, which includes a scleral shield positionable proximate an inner surface of an eyelid, the scleral shield being made of, or coated with, an energy-absorbing material activated by a light energy, and an energy transducer positionable outside of the eyelid, the energy transducer configured to provide light energy at one or more wavelengths, including a first wavelength selected to heat the energy-absorbing material.
Abstract:
It is one aspect to provide a novel trigger point therapy device which is effective for pain management with the treatment of trigger points, releasing tight and painful myofascial fascia, and general self massage. In preferred embodiments, the apparatus comprises: a flexible strap; a first knob mounted to the strap and protruding out from a side of the strap; a second knob mounted proximate to the first knob and protruding out from the side of the strap in the same direction as the first knob; and a strap adjustment means; and wherein the device is configured so that a user may apply varying degrees of pressure to tight and painful myofascial fascia providing hands free self massage.
Abstract:
A device for treatment of premature ejaculation or stimulation of a male organ includes an elastic sleeve mounted within a housing, at least one aperture formed on the elastic sleeve, and at least one liquid-absorbing member held between the housing and the elastic sleeve over the at least one aperture. The at least one liquid-absorbing member is adapted to soak up a liquid with a temperature higher or lower than the body temperature of a user and deliver the liquid through the at least one aperture and into the elastic sleeve when the at least one liquid-absorbing member is squeezed by a male organ of the user frictionally moving to-and-fro inside the elastic sleeve, thereby stimulating the male organ and reducing the sensitivity thereof.
Abstract:
Method and devices for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers are described in which a portable support assembly may be worn by a bed-stricken individual around particular regions of the body where pressure ulcers tend to form. The portable support assembly may generally include one or more individual fluid filled pods which are enclosed entirely within an inner fluid pad localized along a central portion. Both the one or more pods and inner fluid pad are then enclosed entirely by another layer of fluid within an outer fluid pad which extends over the entire assembly. Each of the fluid layers may be secured to an outer shell which is relatively stiffer than the fluid layers and may restrict or limit the expansion or movement of the fluid pods and/or fluid pads.
Abstract:
An improved apparatus and method of body contouring and skin conditioning for the treatment of conditions such as lymphoedema by producing vibrations in the subcutaneous layers of fat. The apparatus includes a cup which engages the patient's skin surface and a vacuum source which provides suction and a pulsating movement against the skin's surface, mimicking the movement of the lymphatic system and flushing out toxins, fat layers and trapped fluid from the area.
