Abstract:
A system for moving or assisting in movement of a body part of a subject, as well as a rehabilitation system including such a movement assistance system, includes a body part interface configured to be secured to the body part, and a motor-actuated assembly connected to the body part interface to move the body part interface to cause flexion or extension movement of the body part. A force sensing module is configured to measure forces applied between the body part interface and the motor-actuated assembly to ascertain at least one of volitional flexion and volitional extension movement of the body part by the subject, among other functions that may be implemented in movement assistance and rehabilitation systems using the disclosed force sensing module designs.

The first and second winches may retract a portion of each respective strap to move the legs of the user forward. A first control button is operatively connected to the control unit. The control unit is configured to operate the robotic walker in at least one control mode and the first control button being operable to start the at least one control mode.
Abstract:
An apparatus for applying traction force to a spine of a user has a chassis with an upper surface. A user lies on the upper surface with the spine extending generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the chassis. Two members extend from the chassis on opposing sides of the longitudinal axis, each member being positioned to engage an armpit. A lever is pivotally attached to the chassis for rotation about a lateral axis, and a pad coupled to the lever contacts a proximal portion of each upper leg when the leg is bent forward at a hip joint. A force applied to the lever is transmitted through the pad to each upper leg and opposed by the members, thereby applying traction force for decompressing the spine. The force may be applied by the arms of the user or by a motor.
Abstract:
A planar torsion spring has outer and inner hubs connected by a set of beams that are capable of bending to provide torsional compliance when the outer hub is rotated with respect to the inner hub. Each beam is fixed to the outer hub at one end and is attached to the inner hub at its other end by a pin and slot. Slots may be curved. The spring is capable of deflecting to ± π 6 radians and providing 100 N·m of torque. Bearings may be located at the interface between each pin and slot. Beams may have variable width. In a method of fabrication, the design dimensions, material, and slot geometry of the planar torsion spring can be parameterized to design springs that meet specific requirements for different applications. In addition to quantifying performance, the models provide the foundation for further weight, efficiency, and performance optimization.
Abstract:
A mechanized sexual stimulation device is provided that provides a reciprocating stimulation body, preferably emulating a male in function with various length of penetration possible. Designs herein allow the protruding dildo to move back and forth to a variety of length, speeds and angles while flexing in many directions. The device includes a housing with a ball reverse screw rotatably mounted to the housing, and a reversing nut which retains bearing balls that allow the nut to move linearly up and down the ball reverse screw as the screw is turned in a single direction, thereby moving a reciprocating stimulation body such as a dildo connected (indirectly or directly) to the reversing nut. Channel or groove structures on the ball reverse screw and reversing nut guide the reciprocating back and forth stoke in a linear motion.
Abstract:
An intracorporeal pressure shock wave device to provide treatment within blood vessels artificial vessels and grafts that includes a frontal pressure shock wave reflector positioned at the distal end of an intracorporeal catheter to direct shock waves toward a treatment target, such as an occlusion and clot.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a massage device (1) with at least one rubber-elastically deformable wall (2), and with at least one actuator (3), which is arranged and configured for the purpose of acting on a sub-region of the elastically deformable wall (2), thus deforming same. It is characterized in that the actuator (3) is formed with an electroactive polymer, and in that the actuator (3) is electrically connected to a control unit (4) arranged in or directly on the massage device (1) and can be actuated by means of this control unit (4).
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a rehabilitative training device for use with a stroke patient includes a first component that is operatively coupled to a first body part (unaffected body part) of the patient and a second component that is operatively coupled to a second body part (affected body part) of the patient. The first component and second component are operatively coupled to one another such that motion of the first component as a result of movement of the first body part by the user causes the second component and second body part to move in a symmetrical motion.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device (1) for massaging or treating the muscles of the back and neck of a patient, comprising a housing (2) in which a drive motor (3) drives an annular crank track (6) by means of a gearbox (4). A lift motion acting on a massage finger (8) is generated by means of a guide unit (7). The geometric dimensions of the annular crank track determine the constant amplitude or the constant stroke of the massage finger (8) or of the massage head (83) thereof. The massage finger (8) is thus displaced at a constant amplitude, while the frequency is changed in accordance with a controller (10). The massage device (1) according to the invention works extremely quietly. The special construction thereof allows the resonant frequency of each muscle to be achieved.
