Abstract:
A compact and easy-to-use walking assisting device capable of reducing constrained feeling given to a user and allowing a free swing of the arms of the user in walking. The walking assisting device comprises one or more leg links to which ground contact members are connected at their lower ends respectively and a load transfer portion connected to the upper ends of the leg links, in which at least a part of the weight of the user is supported by the leg links via the load transfer portion, wherein the load transfer portion includes a seat member for the user to sit astride, wherein connecting portions with the upper ends of the leg links connected thereto are attached to the undersurface of the seat member, and wherein the connecting portion have a degree of freedom allowing the forward/backward and lateral swings of the leg links.
Abstract:
A power generating leg, configurable to be coupled to a person's lower limb, comprising a thigh link, a shank link, a knee mechanism, a torque generator, and a power unit. The knee mechanism is connected to said thigh link and said shank link, and configured to allow flexion and extension movements of said thigh link and said shank link relative to each other. The torque generator is configured to generate torque between said shank link and said thigh link. The power unit is coupled to said torque generator, and configured to cause said torque generator to generate torque. When said power unit is in a power regeneration mode, said power unit causes said torque generator to generate a torque that opposes the angular velocity of said thigh link and said shank link relative to each other and said power unit converts a portion of the power associated with the product of said torque and said angular velocity of said shank link and thigh link relative to each other into electrical power to be stored in a storage device.
Abstract:
A cuff for providing compression to a limb, the cuff comprising an outer wall joined to an inner wall to form a bladder, the bladder being provided with means to separate the walls to maintain a path for fluid flow into and out of the bladder characterised in that the separating means are a spacer provided on the interior of at least one wall, which separates the walls when the bladder is deflated.
Abstract:
A vest for a human body has an air core coupled to a pulsator operable to subject the vest to repeated pulses of air which applies and releases pressure to the body. The vest has a cover having a pocket accommodating the air core, shoulder straps, and end flaps. Releasable hook and loop fasteners connect the straps to chest portions of the vest and end flaps to each other. A releasable retainer secured to the end flaps prevent the end flaps and releasable fasteners from disengaging when air pressure pulses are applied to the vest. The air core has an air chamber and a sleeve having an air receiving passage and openings to allow air to flow from the air receiving passage into the air chamber. A coil spring within the sleeve maintains the air receiving passage open.
Abstract:
Stimulation devices and methods of use are described herein. An example stimulation device configured to stimulate a portion of a body of a user comprises a housing that includes a casing and a covering. The casing includes a nozzle, a motor disposed within the casing configured to generate stimulation patterns, a drive shaft connected to the motor, a sensor configured to detect changes in the rotation of the draft shaft, a controller, and a battery. The covering covers a portion of the casing.
Abstract:
A device for the non-invasive treatment of muscular and neuromuscular pathologies by applying a succession of mechanical-sound waves to a muscle.
Abstract:
The subject of the application is a compression suit (1) for use in the treatment of neurological or psychiatric disorders by exerting pressure on soft tissues, containing a fabric suit (2) for application to the patient's body. The suit is characterised in that it further comprises the pneumatic system for generating and transferring pressure to the soft tissues of the patient, made up of pneumatic inserts (3) for fixing in the areas where the suit interacts with the soft tissues and a pneumatic pump (7) for pumping air into the pneumatic inserts (3) and for regulating the pressure in the pneumatic system. Furthermore, the pneumatic system comprises tubes (5) for supplying air from the pneumatic pump to the pneumatic inserts, whereby the pneumatic inserts are arranged to allow the full range of motion for all movements of limbs and joints. Furthermore, the subject of the application is the use of the compression suit in the treatment of neurological or psychiatric disorders.
Abstract:
A therapy system includes a patient support apparatus and a pneumatic therapy device that is coupleable to the patient support apparatus. The therapy device may receive power and air flow from the patient support apparatus.
Abstract:
A method of operating an exoskeleton system that includes obtaining a first set of sensor data from one or more sensors associated with one or more leg actuator units of an exoskeleton system during a user activity, the first set of sensor data indicating a first configuration state of the one or more actuator units; determining, based at least in part on the first set of obtained sensor data, to change configuration of the one or more leg actuator units to a second configuration state to support a user during the user activity; and introducing fluid to one or more fluidic actuators of the one or more leg actuator units to generate the second configuration state by causing the one or more fluidic actuators to apply force at the one or more actuator units.
