Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of preparing terminally functionalized telechelic polymers using a cationic living polymer product or a terminal tert-chloride chain end of a carbocationic quasiliving polymer product, which comprises quenching the polymer product with an N-substituted pyrrole to thereby functionalize the N-substituted pyrrole at the terminal reactive polymer chain end(s). Also disclosed are the terminal functionalized polyisobuyl N-substituted pyrrole compounds where the polyisobutyl group is subsitituted at the 2 and 3 position of the N-substituted pyrrole.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a fuel composition for the control and/or removal of persistent engine deposits. Said fuel composition comprises a major amount of hydrocarbons boiling in the gasoline range fuel, a hydrocarbyl-substituted polyoxyalkylene amine and a glycol ether component; and is useful for the prevention and control engine deposits.
Abstract:
Methods, a lubricant composition, and a fuel composition for lubricating a two-stroke internal combustion engine include a lubricant composition that contains (A) an oil of lubricating viscosity, (B) an additive composition, and (C) a normally liquid solvent having a kinematic viscosity of less than 5 cSt at 100° C. The lubricant composition improves the cleanliness of a power valve of a two-stroke engine.
Abstract:
A middle petroleum distillate composition containing a major proportion of middle petroleum distillate and a minor proportion of an additive in a sufficient amount to limit the settling speed of paraffins contained in said middle distillate. Said additive consists of a product resulting from a reaction between at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic compound and at least one primary amine functional compound of general formula (I), wherein R1 is a monovalent saturated aliphatic radical, Z is selected from —NR′— groupings in which R′ is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent saturated aliphatic radical, n is an integer between 2 and 4, and m is an integer between 1 and 4; said primary amine functional compound being used in a ratio of 0.3-0.8 mols per mol of said dicarboxylic compound.
Abstract:
The invention relates to fuel additive compositions for internal combustion engines and to fuels that contain the corresponding additives for internal combustion engines. The inventive fuel additive compositions for internal combustion engines have an excellent performance in keeping the inlet system clean and improved viscosity properties, especially at low temperatures.
Abstract:
Hydrocarbyl substituted carboxylic compositions and derivatives thereof useful as additives for lubricating oil and fuel compositions. Carboxylic composition are derived from (A) an olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbon, said hydrocarbon having at least one allylic hydrogen atom, and (B) an null,null-unsaturated carboxylic compound prepared by reacting (1) an active methylene compound of the formula 1 and (2) a carbonyl compound of the general formula 2 wherein Ra is H or hydrocarbyl and Rb is a member of the group consisting of H, hydrocarbyl and 3 wherein each Rnull is independently R or OR and each R is, independently, H or a hydrocarbyl group; and lower alkyl acetals, ketals, hemiacetals and hemiketals of the carbonyl compound (2). Carboxylic derivative compositions are obtained by reacting the carboxylic compositions with a reactant selected from the group consisting of (a) amines characterized by the presence within their structure of at least one condensable HnullN
Abstract:
New, highly effective detergent/dispersants for use in spark-ignition fuels comprising Mannich condensation products formed from (i) at least one substituted hydroxyaromatic compound having on the ring both (a) an aliphatic hydrocarbyl substituent derived from a polyolefin having a number average molecular weight in the range of about 500 to about 3000, and (b) a C1-4 (ii) at least one secondary amine; and (iii) at least one aldehyde are described. Carrier such as ploy(oxyalkylene) compounds further enhance the effectiveness of these Mannich condensation products in minimizing or reducing intake valve deposits and/or intake valve sticking.
Abstract:
A detergent composition comprises a Mannich reaction product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted ortho-alkyl substituted phenol (1) or a mixture of the phenol (1) and a hydrocarbyl-substituted phenol (2), an aldehyde, and an amine where the phenol (1) is present in the mixture at about 50 mole % or higher. Concentrate and fuel compositions include the detergent composition. A method of controlling deposits in an internal combustion engine comprises operating the engine with the fuel composition which results in unexpectedly superior detergent performance.
